It all started with a freaking cigarette, you know? I was just chilling, scrolling through my phone, and there it was—a picture of Charley Hull puffing away. I didn’t think much of it at first, just another golfer taking a break. But then I started seeing more and more about her, especially with Nelly Korda winning like, a zillion times.
So, I got curious. I mean, who is this Charley Hull, and why is she suddenly everywhere? I started digging around, reading articles, watching videos—you name it. It wasn’t like I was trying to become a golf expert or anything. I just wanted to see what the fuss was about.
First, I watched some of her matches. Man, this girl can swing! It was actually pretty cool to watch, even for someone like me who doesn’t know a driver from a putter. I watched her in a few tournaments, and it was easy to see why people were talking about her. She’s got this relaxed vibe, but when she steps up to the ball, it’s all business.
Then, I started to get a little more into it. I mean, I wasn’t exactly glued to the screen, but I found myself checking the scores and seeing how she was doing.
