Okay, so I’d been itching for a trip for a while, you know? Singapore’s great, but sometimes you just need a change of scenery. Taipei had been on my mind – food, night markets, that kind of stuff. So, I finally decided, right, let’s do this, SIN to Taipei it is!

Getting the Flights Sorted
First things first, the flights. This is always a bit of a game, trying to find something that doesn’t break the bank. I spent a good chunk of time, probably an afternoon, just hopping between different websites, comparing prices. You know how it is, you check one, then another, then a third one just to be sure. It felt like I looked at hundreds of options from all sorts of airlines. I was really trying to find the cheapest way to get from Singapore to Taipei. After all that digging, I found a decent deal. I remember seeing a bunch, but the cheapest one at that moment, the one I actually went for, was with Scoot. So, I booked that and felt a bit of relief, like, okay, this is actually happening.
Getting Ready to Go
With flights booked, it was time to get everything else in order. Not a whole lot, thankfully. I checked if I needed any special visa stuff – always good to double-check, even if you think you know. Packed my bags, the usual drill: clothes, toiletries, chargers. I always try to pack light, but somehow it never quite works out that way. Made sure my passport was still valid, obviously. Just the standard pre-trip checklist, ticking things off one by one.
- Checked passport validity.
- Looked into visa requirements (none needed for me, phew).
- Packed my suitcase, trying not to overpack.
- Downloaded some stuff to watch on the plane.
Off to the Airport
Then the day finally came. Woke up, did a last-minute check to make sure I hadn’t forgotten anything critical (like my passport, haha). Grabbed my stuff and headed out to Changi. Always a smooth experience at Changi, gotta say. I went through the check-in process, got my boarding pass, and dropped off my bag – the usual airport routine. Then it was just a matter of walking to the gate, going through security, and waiting for the boarding call. Grabbed a quick coffee while I waited.
Up in the Air
The flight itself was pretty standard. Got on the plane, found my seat, settled in. It wasn’t a super long flight, which was nice. Did a bit of reading, maybe dozed off for a bit. The crew were doing their thing, offering drinks and snacks. I mostly just chilled. Before I knew it, the captain announced we were starting our descent into Taipei. Always a bit exciting, that part, looking out the window as you get closer and see the land appear.
Touching Down in Taipei
Landed at Taoyuan Airport. Getting off the plane, walking through the terminal, the usual arrival process. Immigration was straightforward enough; I just handed over my passport and arrival card, got my stamp. Then it was off to baggage reclaim. Waited for my bag to pop out on the carousel – always that little moment of anxiety, hoping it made it! Luckily, it appeared without too much of a wait. Once I had my luggage, I started looking for how to get into the city. There were clear signs for buses and the airport MRT, so that was helpful.

First Taste of Taipei
So, I figured out the airport MRT, got my ticket, and hopped on. The ride into the city was smooth. Stepping out of the station in Taipei, even with all my luggage, you could feel a different vibe. I was pretty tired from the travel but also buzzing to finally be there. My main thought was just getting to my accommodation, dropping my stuff, and then maybe, just maybe, finding some amazing Taiwanese food. That’s always priority number one after a flight, right? Getting settled and then exploring!
