Okay, so today I’m gonna talk about my little adventure with the Gulfstream picks. It wasn’t some big master plan or anything, just something I decided to try out on a whim.

It all started when I stumbled upon some free picks online. I’m not a big gambler, but I do enjoy horse racing. So, I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I went through a bunch of these “expert” analyses – some were okay, some were just confusing. Finally, I found one that made a little sense, talking about some race called the “ABUNDANTIA STAKES”. Sounded fancy, right?
I did a little more digging, checked out a few more sources, and even tried to understand what a “handicapper” does. They mentioned some guy named Reggie Garrett and another named Ron Nicoletti – apparently, they’re like the gurus of Gulfstream Park. It seemed like this Ron guy really knew his stuff, spent like 15 years at the park, so I paid a bit more attention to his picks.
I also tried to figure out how to actually pick a winner. They talk about something called “form,” which is basically like a horse’s resume. It shows how the horse did in previous races. I’m no expert, but I tried comparing these forms, looking at which horses performed well before. It was a bit like trying to read a foreign language, but I think I got the gist of it.
Then I learned that Gulfstream Park is some big deal in Florida, open every day of the year. It’s owned by some group called The Stronach Group. They even mentioned something about the track favoring horses that are drawn towards the rail, which means something about starting position, I guess.
Here’s how I went about making my picks:

- First, I looked at the free picks from those “experts” I mentioned.
- Second, I tried to understand the “form” of the horses, looking at their past performance.
- Third, I considered the tips about the track favoring horses drawn towards the rail.
- Fourth, I made a list of the horses that seemed promising based on all this.
So, based on my very scientific method, I decided to focus on races 8 through 11. The “expert” pick for the ABUNDANTIA STAKES was $115, whatever that means. And for some other race, the Ft. Lauderdale Stakes, the picks were 6-1-7-2, with a suggestion to bet on #6. Honestly, I just picked a couple of horses that seemed good based on my limited knowledge.
In the end, I placed a small bet, just for fun. Did I win big? Nope. But did I have fun trying to figure it all out? Absolutely! It was like a little puzzle, and even though I didn’t crack the code completely, it was still a fun experience. I might try it again sometime, who knows. Maybe I’ll even become a Gulfstream Park regular like that Ron guy. But for now, it was just a fun little experiment.
What I learned today
Today I learned how to get the picks of the horse racing and how to make my own decision to choose the horse I like.
I tried a lot of ways to get the picks such as find free picks, reading form, considering the tips and make a list.
After that, I make my own decision to choose the horse and place a small bet.

Although I didn’t win, it was fun and maybe I will try again later.
