Alright, let’s talk about this Chile national team roster, or whatever them fancy folks call it. You know, the fellas who kick the ball around for Chile. I don’t know much about all that fancy footwork, but I can tell you who’s who, if that’s what you’re after.

So, who are these Chile players anyway?
Well, they got this team, they call it “La Roja,” which I guess means “The Red One” in some fancy language. Sounds like a kinda spicy pepper to me! These boys, they play for Chile in somethin’ called “international football competitions.” Don’t ask me what that means, sounds like a whole lot of runnin’ around to me. They got this group, a “federation,” that’s been around since way back when, 1895 they say. That’s a long time, even longer than I’ve been around, and that’s sayin’ somethin’.
Now, about them games, the “World Cup” they call it. Chile’s been in a bunch of them, nine times they say. 1930, 1950, then they even had it here in Chile in 1962, and after that, 1966, 1974, 1982, 1998, 2010 and 2014. The best they ever did was back in ’62, when they came in third. Not too shabby, I guess. They run around, kick the ball, and try to get it in the other fella’s net. That’s the gist of it, as far as I can tell.
- Goal Keepers: You know, the guys who try to stop the ball from going in the net. They gotta have quick hands, them fellas. I saw one name, Brayan Corts, they say he’s worth a whole bunch of money, 3 million euros or somethin’. Land sakes, that’s a lot of chickens!
- Defense: These are the fellas who try to keep the other team from gettin’ too close to the net. They gotta be tough and strong, like a good fence post.
- Midfielders: These guys are in the middle of it all, runnin’ around, passin’ the ball. They gotta be quick on their feet, like a rabbit in a field.
- Forwards: These are the ones who try to score the goals. They gotta be good at kickin’ and headin’ the ball, like a mule kickin’ a fence.
More than just men, it seems.
Now, I heard tell there’s a women’s team too. Don’t know much about them, but they play the same game, I reckon. Runnin’ around, kickin’ the ball. Good for them, I say. It ain’t just a man’s game, even if that’s what some folks might think. The women, they got their own stats and all that, but I can’t be botherin’ with all them numbers. Makes my head spin.

Coaches gettin’ into trouble too?
And then there’s the coaches, the fellas tellin’ the players what to do. Even them coaches get into trouble sometimes, seems like. I heard somethin’ about two coaches getting in trouble for something or another in the Copa America, suspensions they called it. Can’t even behave themselves on the sidelines! Guess they gotta follow the rules, just like everyone else.
Findin’ out about the players.
If you want to know more about these players, like how tall they are, or when they were born, you can look it up on somethin’ called the “ESPN.” They got all sorts of information on there, position, height, weight, birthdays, the whole shebang. Sounds like a lot of fuss to me, but some folks like to keep track of all that stuff. They even got stats, whatever that means. Numbers and figures, makes my eyes glaze over just thinkin’ about it. But if you’re into that kind of thing, it’s all there for ya.
This season’s team.

This year’s team, the 2023/24 season they call it, you can find out who’s playin’ right now. They got a whole list of them, the “squad,” they call it. All the players, all their information. You can even sort it out by what games they’re playin’ in, “competitions” I think they’re called. Lands sakes, it’s all so complicated. Back in my day, we just played. Didn’t need no fancy lists or stats.
So, that’s the Chile national team roster, or at least what I know about it. A bunch of fellas, and some gals too, runnin’ around, kickin’ a ball. Some folks get real worked up about it, cheerin’ and yellin’. Me, I just hope they don’t get hurt out there. It’s just a game, after all. But I guess it means somethin’ to some folks, so good on them for playin’ their hearts out for Chile. And that’s all I got to say about that.
