Well, lemme tell ya about this young fella, Chris Levonas. This boy, he’s somethin’ else, I tell ya what. Heard he’s gonna be a big shot in that baseball game. They say he’s a pitcher, throws that ball real hard. They call it a fastball. Heard it goes up to ninety-eight! Ninety-eight what, I don’t rightly know, but it sounds mighty fast to me.

This Chris Levonas, he’s just a young’un, born in two thousand and six. That ain’t so long ago. February eleventh, they say. Seems like yesterday my own boy was that age. Time sure does fly when you get old like me.
He’s a big boy, too. Six foot two, they say. And a hundred and seventy pounds. Skinny as a rail, but strong, I reckon. You gotta be strong to throw that ball like he does. They call him a “right-handed” pitcher. Means he throws with his right hand. Imagine that!
Heard some big team, the Milwaukee Brewers, they picked him. They got some fancy thing called a “draft.” Like when you draw straws, but it’s for pickin’ baseball players. They picked him number sixty-seven. Don’t know what that all means, but it must be a good thing. Sixty-seven out of how many, I wonder? Must be a whole heap of them boys wantin’ to play for the Brewers.
They say he’s one of the best young players in the whole darn country. One of the top thirty, from high school. That’s what “HS” means, I reckon. High school. He ain’t even outta high school yet, and he’s already makin’ a name for himself. That’s somethin’, ain’t it?
- This Chris Levonas, he throws right, bats right.
- He’s gonna be eighteen this year. Still just a boy.
- Heard he was supposed to go to some fancy college, Wake Forest.
This Chris Levonas fella, he’s from a place called Red Bank. Don’t know where that is, but it sounds like a nice place. Maybe I’ll go visit sometime. If I can ever get away from these chickens.
They say he’s a “gangly” fella. Means he’s kinda tall and thin, I guess. Like a scarecrow, but a lot stronger, I bet. You gotta be strong to play that baseball. It ain’t for the weak, that’s for sure. And the MLB draft is a big deal. Big time.
They talk about this Chris Levonas boy like he’s gonna be a big star. “Prospect,” they call him. Means he’s got a good chance of makin’ it big. Hope he does, too. It’s nice to see a young fella doin’ well for himself.
This draft thing, it happened in two thousand and twenty-four. Just this year! Time sure does fly. Seems like just yesterday I was a young’un myself. Now look at me. Old and gray. But I still got my wits about me, most days, anyway.
This Chris Levonas, he’s got a lot of folks watchin’ him. He’s got a “package of interesting traits,” they say. Don’t know exactly what that means, but it sounds fancy. Must be somethin’ special about him. And he is a top HS prospect. Top of the heap.
Heard he’s the second “prep arm” drafted by the Brewers. Don’t know what a “prep arm” is but it must be good. And he was ranked seventy-nine on some list. Seventy-nine out of how many, I wonder? Must be a lot of fellas wantin’ to be pitchers.

Well, I hope this Chris Levonas boy does real good. He seems like a nice young fella. And he sure can throw that ball. Ninety-eight! I still can’t get over that. That’s faster than my old truck, that’s for sure. This 2024 MLB Draft sure is picking some good players.
I’m gonna keep an eye on this Chris Levonas. See how he does. Maybe he’ll be famous someday. Then I can say I knew about him when he was just a young’un, throwin’ that ball ninety-eight somethin’s. Yes sir, this boy’s gonna be somethin’ special. You just wait and see.
