Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fella, Chris Mullin. They say he’s some big shot basketball player, real famous like.

Early Days and All That Jazz
Now, this Chris, he was born in Brooklyn, New York, long time ago, in 1963, I think. Just a young’un then, runnin’ around like all the other kids. But seems he was pretty good at throwin’ that ball, you know, the basketball. Started playin’ at some school, Power Memorial somethin’ or other. He was a tall one, 6-foot-7 they say. That’s real tall, taller than my Billy, and Billy’s a big fella.
He went to some college, St. John’s. Folks say he was real good there too, made the college famous or somethin’. They say he was tough, like them New Yorkers are, wouldn’t give up easy. Always shootin’ that ball with his left hand, they call it a “sweet left-handed jumper,” fancy talk if ya ask me.
- Born in Brooklyn
- Played at Power Memorial Academy
- Went to St. John’s University
- Was a tough player
- Known for his left-handed shot
Big Leagues and Fancy Awards
Then he went on to play in the NBA, that’s the big basketball league, you know, like on TV. Played for the Warriors mostly, that’s a team, Golden State Warriors. He played for a long time, till about 2001, I reckon. He was good, real good. They picked him for somethin’ called the “All-Star” game, five times! Must be somethin’ special, like winnin’ a pie contest at the county fair.

And get this, he won two gold medals at the Olympics! That’s like the whole world competin’, and he was the best! One time with a bunch of other fellas, they call ’em the “Dream Team,” sounds mighty important. Never won a championship though, that’s a pity. But he still got into somethin’ called the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011. That’s a real big deal, like bein’ the best darn farmer in the whole state. They say he averaged 18.2 points a game, scored over 17 thousand points in his whole career. That’s a whole lotta points, more than my chickens lay eggs in a year, I tell ya.
After Playin’ and All That
After he stopped playin’, he didn’t just sit around. He worked for some teams, the Kings and the Warriors again, doin’ somethin’ called “general manager” stuff. Sounded important, like managin’ a whole farm but with basketball players instead of cows.
Chris Mullin, that’s the name. A basketball fella, a good one they say. From Brooklyn, played in the Olympics, made it to the Hall of Fame. He’s one of them fellas that worked hard and made somethin’ of himself, like a good crop after a long, hot summer. They even made videos about him, put ’em on that internet thingy. Folks seem to like watchin’ him and hearin’ about him. He must have been somethin’ special, that Chris Mullin.
More Stuff I Heard

Folks talk about him bein’ tough and relentless. That means he didn’t give up easy, kept goin’ even when things got hard. Like tryin’ to get that stubborn mule, Bessie, to plow the field after a rainstorm. It ain’t easy, but ya gotta keep pushin’.
And that left-handed shot of his, they say it was somethin’ else. Smooth and accurate, like throwin’ a rock at a squirrel and hittin’ it square between the eyes. I ain’t much for basketball, but I reckon that’s pretty darn good.
They also say he embodied the spirit of a New Yorker. Tough, like I said, and I guess that means he was a straight shooter, didn’t mess around. Like my old man used to say, “Say what ya mean, and mean what ya say.” Sounds like this Chris fella was like that.
So, that’s the story of Chris Mullin, as best as I can tell ya. A basketball player, a good one, who did some great things. From Brooklyn, to the Olympics, to the Hall of Fame. He’s one of them fellas that folks remember, and that’s somethin’ special, ain’t it?
