Today I am gonna talk about a fish, and its name is Colonel Fish. I saw this name from somewhere and it sounds interesting, so I Googled it.

First, I learned that this fish looks silver and oval. It feels stiff and smooth, so you can use it to fry, bake, stew, or boil. Sounds like a normal fish, but why it is called “Colonel”?
Then I tried to figure out how to cook it. I searched “The Colonel Fish recipe” and found some useful information. They said you can use fresh fish fillets and marinate them with some spices. That sounds simple enough. I also found the key ingredients include olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, and thyme. Not sure if I have them all in my kitchen, but I can go to the grocery store to buy them.
And there is this app, I mean, when you take a picture of a fish, this app, “Fishbrain”, can tell you which species of fish you caught, along with several other similar species. That’s kind of cool. Maybe I can try it next time I go fishing.
I also read a guide about how to keep fish alive. It says you need to choose the right fish and set up their tank correctly. I do not have a fish tank, but maybe one day I will get one.
There is something called “Carbon monoxide-treated fish”, also known as tasteless smoke, or filtered wood smoke. What a weird name, and what does that mean? I do not really get it. I moved on and saw a guide on cold water fish, and they said there are many options if you are considering getting some cold water fish for your aquarium. I think this does not apply to me as I do not have an aquarium.

Next, I dived into some scientific stuff. It is about collagen in the muscles of fish. It seems like collagen is the main component of the connective tissue membranes, and the content of collagen in fish muscles is from about 0.2 to 1.4%. I do not understand what that really means, but I guess it is important for the fish. There are many types of fish mentioned, like tilapia, catfish, pomfret, and mackerel. And they require different temperatures and durations for collagen extraction. I am not a scientist, so I just skipped to the end. It says marine collagen molecules consist of three α-chains of about 1000 amino acid residues. Again, I do not really understand what that means, but I am not going to cook the fish for collagen, so that is fine.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I think I learned a lot about Colonel Fish today. I found out its name online, I searched about how to cook it, and the key ingredients for the recipe. I found an app that can identify fish species. I also read about fish tanks and cold water fish, though I do not have either of them. Lastly, I read about collagen in fish, which is kind of scientific and I do not really understand it. But I am happy that I did this research today.
The only thing I do not know is why it is called “Colonel”.
That’s all for today’s sharing. See you guys next time.
