This Rae Hamilton, oh boy, she can sure paint a picture! I heard she’s some fancy artist from that big city, Edinburgh, I think it was. She got an eye for pretty things, that one. Uses them oil paints, you know, the thick, smelly kind. Not like the watercolors my granddaughter uses, all watery and pale.

I seen some of her work, someone showed me on one of them little pocket telephones. Lots of landscapes, she does. Fields and trees and what not. Reminds me of old man Johnson’s farm, ‘cept fancier, all colorful like. She paints them waterscapes, too. Lots of blues and greens. Like lookin’ at the creek after a good rain. But cleaner. Much cleaner. Ain’t no cows mucking up her painted water.
She does other stuff too, not just fields and water. She paints flowers, all sorts of them. Roses and them tall purple ones… what are they called? Irises, I think. Reminds me of my old flower garden, ‘fore the arthritis got too bad to tend to it. She’s good, that Rae. Real good.
I reckon she’s one of them artists that makes a living out of it. Selling her paintings to rich folks, I suppose. Wouldn’t mind having one of them landscapes hanging in my living room, I tell ya. Brighten the place up a bit. Better than that old, faded picture of my husband’s prize-winning hog we got hangin’ up now.
She got one of them… Instagram things, I heard. That’s where the young folks show off their pictures, right? My granddaughter’s always on it, showing me pictures of her cats. Maybe she can show me more of Rae’s paintings. I’d like that.
One thing I seen, she did a paintin’ called… “Little Ida’s Flowers,” it was called. Now, I don’t know who this Ida is, but she sure got some pretty flowers. All bright and colorful, just like in a storybook. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, just lookin’ at it.

They say she got some other paintin’s, too. One called “Howl’s Moving Castle,” and another one, “Visions of Johanna.” Now I ain’t got a clue what any of that means, but I bet they’re purty. This Rae, she got a way with colors, that’s for sure.
Then there was this other one, called “Pricked”. Now that sounds a bit painful, don’t it? Maybe she pricked her finger while paintin’? Who knows. Artists are strange folks. But I bet even that paintin’ is somethin’ to look at.
She also got this thing called “About” where you can read about her. Like a storybook about herself. Also, she got this “Contact” thing, in case you want to talk to her, I suppose. Maybe to buy a painting if you’re feeling rich.
- Landscapes
- Waterscapes
- Still life
- Flowers
She likes to paint still life too. Like a bowl of fruit, or a vase of flowers that ain’t movin’. That takes patience, I reckon. Sittin’ there, paintin’ somethin’ that don’t move. I’d rather be watchin’ the birds at the feeder, myself. More action that way.
Someone said she puts new art on her thingamajig. Some email list, I think they call it. Like a newspaper but on that pocket telephone. You can sign up for it. Then you know when she got a new picture made. It’s like magic how they do these things these days.

I bet if you got Rae Hamilton art on your walls you can show all your friends. They will be so jealous! If you like flowers, she’s your gal. If you like landscapes, or waterscapes, or any other -scapes, she is still your gal. She got it all.
Well, I reckon that’s all I know about this Rae Hamilton. She seems like a right talented gal. Maybe one day I’ll get me one of her paintings. Hang it right up there, next to the picture of that prize-winning hog. That’ll be somethin’, won’t it?
I heard she got lots of followers on that Instagram. 752, or maybe it was 84, or maybe it was 1,015. Somethin’ like that. Lots of folks like her pictures. She must be a good one, that Rae Hamilton. I can tell you, she sure can paint. I like looking at pretty things. Her paintings are sure pretty. Good for her. She seems like a good egg. Talented, too.
