Okay, so I’ve always been curious about car spoilers. Do they actually do anything, or are they just for show? I decided to put it to the test, in my own, very unscientific way.

The Setup
First, I needed a car. I used my own daily driver, because,I am not gonna rent a car only for test. I made my mind to have a baseline run without any spoiler,to get how the car handles normally. I picked a long, straight stretch of road nearby – mostly empty, so I could, let’s say, safely test things out.
The ‘Before’ Runs
I did a few runs down this road, trying to keep my speed consistent, and pay attention to how the car felt. Especially at higher speeds. Was it stable? Did it feel floaty? I tried to note it all down, my notebook is not very pertty.
Adding the Spoiler
- Then came the fun part: installing the spoiler! Found a big box on amazon,I have no experience to choose a good one, just select the most popular one.
- I got a friend help me to bolt the thing * spent,like,2 hours.
The ‘After’ Runs
With the spoiler attached, I headed back to my “test track.” Again, I did several runs, keeping the speed as close to the ‘before’ runs as I could. And, to be honest… I think I felt a slight difference. The car, maybe, maybe, felt a tiny bit more planted at the back, especially when I pushed it a little harder. Less like it was about to take off, more like it was glued to the road.
My Very Unscientific Conclusion
So, does a spoiler make your car faster? Probably not in terms of pure top speed. At least, not in my little experiment. But, it might make it feel a bit more stable at higher speeds. Could be placebo, could be real – I’m no expert! But it was a fun little project, and hey, my car looks a little cooler now, right?
Next, I am going to do the samething, with a different spoiler this time,to find out what will happen!
