Okay, so today I tried this “16 plus 7” thing. I’d heard about it, and it sounded interesting, so I gave it a shot.

I started by setting a timer. See, the whole idea is to work in focused bursts. The “16” means 16 hours of being “on” – could be work, chores, whatever needs doing. And the “7” is for 7 hours of solid, uninterrupted sleep. The remaining one is to get ready for sleep.
My 16-Hour Hustle
- First, I tackled my work emails. Cleared out the inbox. Felt good.
- Then, I moved on to some project work. It was tough to stay focused at times, ngl.
- I made sure to take short breaks. Just a quick walk around, or staring out the window for a few minutes.
- Lunch was quick, and then back at it.
- I even clean my room and kitchen, they’re all cleaned and shine now.
- The afternoon was a bit of a drag, I have to admit. My energy dipped.
- But I pushed through, reminding myself of the goal, and keep going.
The 7-Hour Sleep Promise
This was the important part. I usually sleep around 5-6 hours, getting 7 hours sounded like a luxury. And the other one hour for me is to take a good bath before sleep.
- No phone. Put it away.
- I took a bath for around half an hour.
- Read a book for a bit. Nothing too exciting. Just to wind down.
- Then I start to write a little, for maybe half an hour.
- Lights out. And…I actually slept pretty well!
I woke up feeling…surprisingly refreshed. Like I’d actually slept. It’s weird, but it worked.
So, yeah, that was my “16 plus 7” experiment. Will I do it every day? I’m not sure. But it definitely showed me the value of dedicated work time and, even more importantly, dedicated rest time. It’s about finding that balance, I guess.
