You see, this old body ain’t what it used to be. But I hear tell there’s ways to get that golf swing speed up, even for us older folks. I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the market, somethin’ about exercises to increase swing speed. So, I thought I’d try to figure it out, maybe it’ll help me hit that little ball further. It’s a tough game, that golf.

They say you gotta be strong, like a darn ox. Well, I ain’t no ox, but I can still lift a thing or two. They say you need to gain weight, eat more. One guy gained like, 16 of them kilograms, whatever that is. It’s a whole lot of food! I need to eat more, gain more, from 195 of them, to 230 of them, maybe I can hit the ball farther. But you know what? I think eating is very important to get strong.
One thing I heard was about throwin’ one of them heavy balls, medicine ball they called it. You twist your body and throw it. Sounds like hard work, but they say it helps with that swing speed. Gotta twist and turn, I reckon, like wringin’ out a wet rag. Maybe I’ll try that out in the yard, see if it does any good.
Someone told me a secret to increase the speed of the golf swing. And also need to use some tools to help you get better at it. I don’t know. I think this is all too complicated.
And they got these special clubs, heavier than a regular one, I think. You swing that around, and it’s supposed to make your regular swing faster. Like swingin’ a heavy bucket of water, I guess. Then when you pick up a light one, it feels like nothin’. Just gotta be careful not to overdo it, they say. Don’t want to pull somethin’. And you know, keep your balance. That’s important, especially when you ain’t as young as you used to be.
And throwin’! They say throwin’ is good, like them yoga balls. Throw it to the wall or on the ground, use both arms, like pushin’ away from your middle. I think that’s how you play golf, push it away. Then you get faster.

Here’s somethin’ else, they talk about movin’ your whole body. Like bendin’ down and pickin’ somethin’ heavy up off the ground, or pullin’ yourself up on a bar. They call ’em “compound movements.” They say you need to do squats, deadlifts, rows, and pull-ups. Sounds like a lot of work. They say it makes you stronger and helps you move better, makes you all limber and such. I reckon that would help with that golf swing, too. Gotta be able to move easy, you know.
- They say you need to do that squat thing. That’s like sittin’ down in a chair that ain’t there.
- And that deadlift, that’s like pickin’ up a heavy sack of potatoes.
- Then there’s rows, that’s like pullin’ on a rope.
- And pull-ups, Lordy, that’s like climbin’ up a tree. I ain’t done that in years!
They say you gotta do all them movements, use your whole body, not just your arms. Use your legs, your back, your core, whatever that is. I guess it all works together. Like a team of horses pullin’ a wagon, gotta have all of ’em workin’ together to get it movin’. And use the full range, whatever that means. They say it’ll make you strong and help you move better.
So, I reckon there’s a lot to this golf swing speed business. Ain’t as simple as just whackin’ at the ball. Gotta be strong, gotta be flexible, gotta use your whole body. It’s a lot to think about. I don’t know. They say these things will make your golf swing better and faster. Maybe I’ll give some of these things a try, see if it makes any difference. Can’t hurt, I suppose. And who knows, maybe this old gal will be hittin’ that ball further than ever before. Wouldn’t that be somethin’?
I still think it’s a silly game, chasin’ that little white ball around. But hey, if it keeps you movin’, that’s a good thing, right? Gotta keep movin’, that’s what I always say. Even if it’s just swingin’ a golf club. So these are the exercises to increase swing speed. I hope I can do it.
