Hey everyone, so, I wanted to share my recent project. I got my hands on this Kawasaki ZRX 1100, and let me tell you, it was quite the ride, both literally and figuratively. I mean, this thing, it’s a beast from the late ’90s, but it has a charm that’s hard to resist.

First off, I started by really getting to know the bike. It’s got this 1052cc engine, liquid-cooled, and it’s an inline-four. I’m not sure I can call it sporty, but it definitely has a look. And when I first took it for a spin, whoa, the power was something else. We’re talking about hitting 60 mph in under 3 seconds. That’s not a joke.
Then there was the whole process of making it my own. I dove deep into the bike. Looked at every nut and bolt. I started tinkering. The swingarm, for instance, was a bit different from what I was used to. It’s redesigned, and that took some getting used to. Also, the ZRX 1100 has this bigger engine compared to other bikes I’ve worked on, so I had to be extra careful with the adjustments.
Tuning and Tweaking
The fun part was tuning it. I played around with the engine settings, trying to get that perfect balance between power and control. It’s got something like 158 horsepower at 10,000 rpm, which is insane. And the torque, at 97 foot-pounds at 7500 rpm. I did a lot of trial and error, trust me. A lot!
- Engine Work: Spent hours fine-tuning. It was a delicate dance.
- Riding Gear: Realized the stock setup wasn’t cutting it for me, so I made some changes there. Wider gear made a huge difference in handling.
- Custom Touches: Added a few personal touches here and there. Nothing too crazy, just making it feel more like mine, you know?
I also took the bike out on different roads. Highways, back roads, you name it. Wanted to see how it behaved in different conditions. I’m not going to lie, there were a few moments where I was like, “Okay, this is a bit much.” But overall, it was a blast.
Wrapping it up, working on this Kawasaki ZRX 1100 was an experience. It wasn’t always smooth sailing. There were challenges, sure, but that’s part of the fun, right? Getting your hands dirty, figuring things out, and at the end of the day, seeing what you’ve accomplished. That’s what it’s all about. And with this bike, it was totally worth it. So, yeah, that’s my story with the ZRX 1100. Hope you enjoyed the ride along!
