Alright, let’s gab about them Orioles walk up songs, you know, the tunes them fellas strut out to when they play ball. I ain’t no fancy music critic or nothin’, just a regular gal who likes a good song, especially when it’s got somethin’ to do with our boys playin’ ball.
Now, I hear tell there’s this thing called “BallparkDJ” where you can make your own walk-up music and intros. Sounds mighty fancy, huh? They say it’s free to try, and if you like it, it’s just a few dollars a year. Unlimited teams and players, they say. Land sakes, that’s a lot of music! But me? I just listen to what them fellas pick, ain’t got time for makin’ my own.
Folks are always makin’ lists of these songs, you know, puttin’ ’em on that “Spotty-fy” and “Apple Music.” Seems like a lot of work to me, but I guess some folks like to keep track. I saw one list, called somethin’ like “Orioles walk-up songs 2024,” had about 16 songs. Another one had more, maybe 34 or so. Goodness gracious, that’s a heap of tunes!
You got your fast songs, your slow songs, country songs, all sorts. I remember that fella Adam Jones, he used to walk up to somethin’ about a fancy car, a “Bugatti” I think it was called. And Wieters, he liked them country tunes. Always somethin’ different, you know. Keeps things interestin’. It’s like gettin’ to know a little bit about the players, seein’ what kinda music they like.
One thing’s for sure, these songs get the crowd goin’. You hear that music start up and everybody starts clappin’ and cheerin’. Gets you pumped up, you know? Makes you wanna see them boys hit a home run or strike somebody out. That’s the whole point, ain’t it? Get the energy up, get the crowd roarin’.
- Gets the Crowd Pumped: A good walk-up song gets the fans excited.
- Shows Player Personality: You can tell a little bit about a player by their song choice.
- Adds to the Atmosphere: The music makes the game more fun and exciting.
Now, I ain’t got no fancy music learnin’, so I can’t tell you about the rhythm or the melody or whatever. But I know what I like. I like a song that’s got a good beat, somethin’ you can tap your foot to. And I like a song that’s got some energy, somethin’ that makes you wanna get up and dance, or in this case, cheer for the Orioles.
Some folks, they make videos and share ‘em with their friends and family, showin’ off the songs and the players walkin’ up. That’s nice, I guess. I just like sittin’ in my seat, watchin’ the game, and listenin’ to the music. It’s all part of the experience, you see. The crack of the bat, the roar of the crowd, and that music playin’ when the players come up to bat.
There’s even folks on that there “Twitter” – somethin’ called “Plate Music” they are – keepin’ track of all the newest walk-up songs. They say it’s “crowdsourced,” whatever that means. Sounds like a lot of work to me, but I reckon somebody’s gotta do it. Keeps us all in the loop, I s’pose.
I heard tell there’s a whole playlist for the 2024 Orioles, the one I mentioned earlier. Folks are sharin’ it all over the place. It’s kinda nice, seein’ what songs they pick. You got your hip-hop, your country, your rock and roll, just about everything you can imagine. I guess it just depends on what the players like. And that’s alright by me.
So, what makes a good walk-up song? Well, like I said, it’s gotta have a good beat. It’s gotta have energy. And it’s gotta be somethin’ that gets the crowd goin’. But most importantly, I reckon, it’s gotta be somethin’ the player likes. After all, it’s their song, their moment. They get to pick what they walk up to, and that’s just fine.
And you know what? That’s what makes it fun. Every player’s different, every song’s different. It’s like a little surprise every time a new batter steps up to the plate. You never know what you’re gonna hear. And that’s part of the joy of goin’ to an Orioles game. It ain’t just about the baseball, it’s about the whole experience. The food, the fans, the atmosphere, and of course, them Orioles walk up songs.
