Okay, so I finally decided to hit up Flatirons Golf Course the other day. I’d heard about it from a few buddies, and honestly, I just needed to get out of the house and whack some balls.

Getting Started
First thing I did was dig out my clubs from the garage. They were gathering dust, I’m not gonna lie. Gave them a quick wipe down – gotta look somewhat professional, right? Then I tossed them in the trunk and headed out.
Pulled up to the course, and it was pretty packed. Lots of people milling around, getting ready to tee off. I checked in at the pro shop, paid my greens fee (ouch, my wallet), and grabbed a scorecard.
Hitting the Links
I went straight to the driving range for a little warmup, get some practice. Important! Don’t skip this, and don’t be me. Started with my pitching wedge, just trying to get a feel for things. Then moved on to my irons, and finally, the big dog – the driver. Let’s just say, my driver needs some work. It was a bit all over the place.
After the range, I headed to the first tee. Took a deep breath, lined up my shot, and… shanked it right into the trees. Off to a great start!
- Hole 1: Disaster. Woods, rough, sand trap – you name it, I found it. Ended up with a double bogey.
- Hole 2: Slightly better. Managed to keep it on the fairway, but my putting was atrocious. Three-putted for a bogey.
- Hole 3: This is where things started to click a little. Parred the hole! Felt good, man.
The rest of the round was a mixed bag. Some good shots, some bad shots, the usual golf rollercoaster. I definitely need to work on my short game – chipping and putting were killing me.

Wrapping Up
Finished the round, added up my score (not pretty, but I won’t bore you with the details), and headed to the clubhouse for a cold one. Needed to drown my sorrows, or celebrate my few good shots, depending on how you look at it.
Overall, it was a fun day. Flatirons is a decent course, challenging enough but not too crazy. I’ll definitely be back, but maybe after a few more trips to the driving range. My golf game needs some serious TLC.
