Well, let me tell ya ’bout this young fella, Ashton McCulloch, and his golf game. Folks been talkin’ ’bout him, so I figured I’d piece together what I heard. Seems like he’s a real good golfer, this Ashton fella.
Ashton McCulloch – A Real Golfer, They Say
Now, I ain’t never played golf myself. Too busy workin’ the land, you know? But from what I gather, this Ashton fella, he’s somethin’ special. They say he plays for some fancy team, the Spartans, over in Michigan. Big Ten conference, they call it. Sounds important. He’s one of their best players, maybe even THE best. They were yappin’ ’bout how he finished top dog in nine golf games, count ‘em, nine! And get this, he done won six in a row at the end of the year. That’s like winnin’ the blue ribbon at the county fair every time, only with golf.
This boy, Ashton, he ain’t just good now, he’s record-breakin’ good. I heard tell his average score, somethin’ they call stroke average, is the best ever in the history of them Spartans. Beat out some other fella named James Piot, who they say was a big deal too. Imagine that, bein’ better than a fella who was already the best! Ashton, he’s somethin’ else. They say he’s on the All-Big Ten Second Team. Second team? Sounds like they made a mistake, shoulda put him on the first team I reckon.

And it ain’t just in Michigan where this boy shines. He’s a Canadian fella, from a place called Kingston, Ontario, I believe. And wouldn’t you know it, he went and won the Canadian Amateur Championship! Yep, beat all them other young fellas tryin’ to make a name for themselves. Shot a 70 in the last round, they said. I don’t know golf scores, but seems like a good number. Won by five shots! That’s like beatin’ your neighbor in a horse race by a whole field! His folks must be real proud, his daddy Mark and his mama Donna. They’re the ones who got him started playin’ this golf game, back when he was just a young’un, over at the Garrison Golf and Curling Club in Kingston. Guess they taught him right.
Playin’ on the Tour
This Ashton fella, he’s playin’ in somethin’ called the PGA TOUR now. That’s the big leagues, like goin’ from the minor league baseball to the majors. They keep track of all his scores and stats and such. Got videos and pictures of him too, I hear. Must be nice to be famous like that. All them folks watchin’ you swing a stick at a little ball. Seems kinda silly when you think about it, but hey, if you’re good at it, you’re good at it.
Golf Stuff, What You Need
Now, if you’re gonna play golf like Ashton, you gotta have the right gear, I guess. Clubs and balls and shoes and such. I saw this ad for a place called Nordicagolf. They say they got everything a golfer needs. All sorts of golf products. Guess you gotta have special clothes too. Not like my overalls, that’s for sure. But if you’re serious about golf, you gotta get the good stuff. Like gettin’ the best seeds for plantin’ corn, you want the best you can get.

So, that’s what I know about Ashton McCulloch. Seems like a hard-workin’ young man who’s real good at hittin’ that little white ball. He’s makin’ a name for himself, winnin’ championships and playin’ on the big tour. Good for him, I say. Shows what you can do if you set your mind to it, even if it’s just hittin’ a ball with a stick.
From what I hear, there’s this Ashton-in-Makerfield Golf Club too, founded way back in 1902. Started in a place called Bryn and moved to its current location later on. Got a parkland course. Now, whether that’s got somethin’ to do with our Ashton, I can’t rightly say, but there it is. Anyway, Ashton McCulloch, that boy’s got a bright future in golf, that much is clear.
