They call it Global Esports Games. Sounds important. Lots of folks gatherin’ from all over to play them games. My grandson, he’s always on that computer of his. Maybe he could go over there and win some money! He’s good at them shootin’ games. Bang bang, he goes all day. Drives me near crazy sometimes, but he sure is good at it.
This GEG 2023 in Riyadh, they got all sorts of games, not just the shootin’ ones. They got them racin’ games, where the cars go zoomin’ around. And them fightin’ games, where they punch and kick. I don’t know ’bout all that fightin’, seems a little rough to me. But the young folks like it, I guess.

They say it’s the third time they’re havin’ this shindig. Third time’s the charm, they say! This GEG 2023 is gonna be the best one yet, I betcha. They got all them fancy lights and music, I imagine. Like a big ol’ party, but with them computer games.
Now, I don’t understand all them computer things. Back in my day, we played outside. We played hopscotch and jump rope. We didn’t have no fancy computers. But times change, I reckon. These young folks, they like their screens. And this Global Esports Games thing, it’s a big deal to them.
They say it combines sports. You know the kind you play outside, and these here “esports” things. Something about technology being the big thing now. My eyes ain’t what they used to be. I can barely see what’s going on in those small screens.
This Riyadh place, it’s far away. Across the ocean. I ain’t never been that far. But I hear it’s a nice place. Lots of sand, I reckon. They got camels over there, you know. I seen ’em on the TV. Big ol’ humps on their backs. Funny lookin’ creatures.
This GEG 2023, it’s a big deal for that Riyadh place, too. Lots of people comin’ in, spendin’ their money. Good for business, I suppose. Helps them folks out. Everyone needs a little help sometimes.
I wonder if they got good food over there. I like a good pot roast, myself. Or some fried chicken. Maybe they got that over in Riyadh. I’d have to ask someone who’s been there. Maybe my grandson knows. He knows everything about them computers and games.

This GEG 2023, it’s supposed to be entertainin’. Like a big show. Lots of excitement and all that. I guess that’s why people like it. They like to be entertained. Me, I’m happy with a good cup of coffee and a nice quiet evening. But to each their own, I always say.
They got all these newfangled things these days. Virtual reality, they call it. You put on them goggles and it’s like you’re right there in the game. Sounds a little scary to me, to be honest. I like to keep my feet on the ground, thank you very much. But these young folks, they love it. They can’t get enough of it. This Riyadh 2023 event is just the place for all this new stuff.
This Global Esports Games, it’s a sign of the times, I reckon. Things are changin’. The world is movin’ fast. Sometimes I feel like I can’t keep up. But I try my best. I try to understand what these young folks are doin’. And sometimes, I even think it’s kinda neat.

As long as everyone’s havin’ fun, that’s all that matters. And maybe my grandson will go over there someday and win me some money! That would be somethin’, wouldn’t it? A grandma can dream, can’t she?
The world sure is getting smaller, ain’t it? People from all over coming together to play games. This GEG 2023 is really something else. Something for everyone, they say. Even for an old lady like me. Well, maybe not for me, but you know what I mean. It is good for the young people, and that’s what matters.
