Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post, following all your guidelines:
Alright, so I saw all this buzz about the Dallas Mavericks possibly getting a new logo, and I got curious. I wanted to see if I could maybe get ahead of the game and, you know, try to design something myself. Just for fun, mostly.
First, I started by just sketching some stuff. I mean, super rough sketches. I’m no artist, but I grabbed a pencil and paper and just started doodling. I was thinking about what makes the Mavericks, well, the Mavericks. Obviously, a horse, right? But it had to be, like, a cool horse. A tough-looking horse.
I doodled a bunch of horse heads, some full-body horses, even some weird abstract shapes. Most of them were terrible, haha. But it’s all part of the process, right? Just getting the ideas flowing.
Playing with Colors
After I had a few sketches I didn’t totally hate, I thought about colors. The Mavs have those classic blue and silver/white colors. So, I stuck with those, mostly. I mean, they’re the team colors! I did try throwing in a little bit of green, just to see, but nah. Didn’t feel right.
- Blue: Had to have it. It’s the main color.
- Silver/White: Also a must-have. It’s the classic combo.
- Green: Tried it, didn’t like it. Too much, I think.
I mostly try some different shades of blue. Like, a darker, almost navy blue. And then a lighter, more vibrant blue. I kinda liked the darker one, it felt more…serious.
Putting it Together
This is where I cheated a little bit, and I used an online simple photo editor. It’s just some basic shapes, and i add some color. Nothing fancy.
I tried to make the horse head look a little bit “geometric,” you know? Like, sharp angles and stuff. I don’t know if I succeeded, but it was fun to try. I also added a basketball in there, of course. Had to have a basketball.
It’s not perfect, far from it! I just played around for a bit, trying to do something simple and see what I can do with it. It was pretty cool just messing around and seeing what I could come up with.
Who knows if the Mavs will actually change their logo, but it was a fun little project for an afternoon!
