Alright, guys, so I’ve been diving deep into GTA Online again lately, and one question that keeps popping up is about crossplay. Specifically, can you play GTA Online with your friends on different platforms? I decided to put it to the test myself, so here’s the lowdown from my experience.

My Crossplay Experiment
First, I fired up my trusty old PS5. My buddy, Mark, he’s all about that PC life. We’ve been trying to coordinate some heists for ages, but, you know, different platforms, different worlds, right?
So, I hopped into GTA Online, sent Mark an invite the usual way. Nothing. Zilch. No surprise there, sadly. We kinda knew this going in, but hey, a gamer can dream, can’t he?
Next, I tried getting creative. I logged into my Rockstar Games Social Club account, thinking maybe, just maybe, there’d be some hidden cross-platform magic in there. I poked around, checked my friends list, tried adding Mark through his Social Club ID… still no dice.
We even tried joining the same random public sessions, hoping the game would magically put us together. We counted down, “3, 2, 1, GO!” and both hit the “Join Session” button at the same time. No luck. We ended up in different lobbies, chasing different bounties and dodging different griefers. It was pretty much a bust.
The Results Are In
So, after all that messing around, here’s the blunt truth: GTA Online does not currently support crossplay. I know, I know, it’s a bummer. I really wanted to tear up Los Santos with Mark, but it just wasn’t in the cards.

It seems pretty clear. My PS5 world and Mark’s PC world are separate entities in the GTA Online universe. We tried workarounds, we tried hoping, but nothing changed the basic fact: no crossplay for us.
I am still hoping Rockstar Games will support crossplay one day. I will keep you guys posted.
