Alright, so I needed to get this AFC check-in sorted. It’s always one of those things hanging over you before you can relax a bit, right?

Getting Started
First thing, I grabbed my laptop. Thought I’d try the website first, usually the easiest way. Or so you’d think. Had to hunt down that booking reference number. Took me a good few minutes rummaging through my email inbox. Finally found it tucked away.
So I punched in the reference, typed my last name, all the usual stuff. Hit the button to find my booking. And then… just waiting. The little loading icon just spun and spun. Honestly, thought the site was broken for a minute there. Maybe too many people trying at once? Who knows.
Switching to the App
Okay, website wasn’t playing nice. Plan B: the mobile app. Had to download it first, another step. Logged in, and repeated the whole process again. Enter booking ref, name, etc. This time, it actually worked! The app seemed a bit smoother, gotta give them that.
Then came the seat selection part. Scrolled through the map. Seriously? All the aisle and window seats seemed to be already taken or marked as ‘extra charge’. Always the way. Ended up picking a spot somewhere in the middle, hoping the neighbours are quiet.
Baggage and the Final Steps
Next up was baggage. Just had my carry-on, so I selected that. They have all these prompts you have to click through. Confirming you know the rules, confirming what you packed. Felt like a bit of an interrogation, just to check in online.

- Found booking reference (eventually)
- Tried website (failed)
- Downloaded and used app (worked)
- Selected a seat (not the best one)
- Confirmed baggage details
- Clicked through various confirmation screens
It wasn’t exactly rocket science, but it felt fiddlier than it needed to be. You just want to get your boarding pass and be done with it.
Check-In Complete
Finally, after all the clicking and confirming, the magic screen appeared: Check-in complete. The boarding pass showed up right there on the app. Big relief. Saved it straight to my phone’s digital wallet. Always better than relying on a printout or digging through the app again at the gate.
So, yeah. Got it done. Took a bit longer than expected, with the website glitch and all. But the pass is secured now. Just gotta remember to charge my phone. One step closer to actually getting there.
