Okay, so I’ve been wanting to play Baldur’s Gate 3 with my partner, but we only have one PC. Couch co-op is the dream, right? So I went on a mission to figure out this whole split screen thing.
The Hunt Begins
First, I just straight-up Googled it. I mean, wouldn’t it be awesome if the game just had split screen? Sadly, no dice. Official support? Nope.
But, gamers are resourceful, so I knew there had to be a workaround. I dug through forums and Reddit threads. Lots of people asking the same question, and a few whispers of a solution.
The Nucleus Co-op Whisper
The main thing that kept popping up was this thing called “Nucleus Co-op.” Apparently, it’s a tool that lets you force split screen on games that don’t normally support it. Sounded promising, and a little bit like magic.
Getting My Hands Dirty
So, I downloaded Nucleus Co-op. I’m not gonna lie, it looked a bit intimidating at first. Not the most user-friendly thing I’ve ever seen. Lots of options and stuff.
I found a Baldur’s Gate 3 script, specifically for use with Nucleus, downloaded that, followed instructions, it was pretty straightforward.
The Moment of Truth
I fired up Nucleus Co-op, loaded up two instances of Baldur’s Gate 3. Took some fidgeting and finagling. The first time i tried I could only see one screen, so messed with the settings, resized a few bits and then boom!
It worked! We were playing Baldur’s Gate 3, split screen, on one PC! It was a bit janky, the resolution had to be played with a little, but, it worked!
Final Thoughts
It’s not perfect. Performance takes a little bit of a hit, obviously. But, it’s totally playable, and we’re having a blast finally playing together on the same screen.
So, if you want to give it a shot, grab the tool and be prepared to follow some detailed instructions. It’s worth it if you’re craving that couch co-op experience!
