Well, let me tell you somethin’ about these here ALGS stats. It’s like countin’ chickens, but these chickens are runnin’ around with guns and shootin’ each other. You gotta keep track of who’s got the most, you see?

This whole thing, it’s about some game called “Apex Legends.” My grandson, he plays it all the time. Yells at the screen somethin’ fierce. Says he’s gonna be a pro someday. I just nod and smile. Kids these days, always with their games.
So, they got these teams, and they’re all fightin’ each other. And each team, they gotta get these points. Like pickin’ apples, but the apples are worth somethin’ in this game. They call them ALGS points, I reckon.
- First thing, you gotta get enough points to be somethin’ called “Match Point Eligible.”
- It’s like, you gotta fill up your basket with 50 apples before you can even think about winnin’.
- Then, once you got your 50 apples, you gotta win one more time.
It’s all a big to-do if you ask me. But the young folks, they love it. They watch it on that internet thing. They say there’s a whole bunch of money in it too. Like a prize pig at the county fair, but this pig is made of money, I guess.
They got these things called “tournaments.” Like a pie-eatin’ contest, but with shootin’. And you gotta do good in these tournaments to get those ALGS points. More tournaments you do good in, more points you get. Simple as that.
To get those points, teams gotta play good. This one here says, “Teams must advance at least one round in an Online Tournament.” Sounds like movin’ up the ladder to me. Gotta keep climbin’ if you wanna get to the top.

And if there is only one round, then you don’t need to worry about moving up. Just win that one, I guess.
They say there’s gonna be at least ten of these “Online Tournaments” for each “Region.” Whatever a region is. Sounds like different parts of the county to me. Like, you got the folks from over by the river, and the folks from up in the hills. They all play against each other, see? And if you win you are “ALGS Champion”.
Now, they got somethin’ called “Year 4” of this whole shebang. Means they been doin’ this for four years now. Time flies when you’re havin’ fun, I suppose. Even if that fun involves shootin’ at each other on a computer screen.
And they got somethin’ called “Pro League.” Like the big leagues for these gamers. I guess that’s where my grandson wants to be someday. Playin’ in the Pro League, makin’ the big bucks. Hope he makes it. He’s a good boy, even if he does spend too much time starin’ at that screen.
There was some big tournament called “ALGS Year 4 Split 1 Playoffs”. Sounds fancy, don’t it? They said there was over 3,000 kills. Now that’s a lot of shootin’. And they even keep track of what guns they use. Like countin’ the different kinds of beans in your garden.

These players, they know about the “ALGS Championship”. It’s a big deal, I reckon. Like the state fair of this whole Apex Legends thing. And people can put money into it, like bettin’ on a horse race. They buy these “Animal Kingdom skin bundles.” Whatever those are. Sounds like somethin’ you’d find at a taxidermist, but what do I know?
They got a “schedule” for all these games too. Like a calendar, but for shootin’ matches. Gotta keep track of when everything’s happenin’, I suppose.
You can look up these ALGS stats on that there internet. They got these “Stats Breakdown” things for each game. Like lookin’ at your receipts after you been to the market. Tells you everything that happened in the game, I guess. Who shot who, how many points they got, all that stuff.
They got the same thing for something called “ALGS Playoffs Year 3”. Just like the other one, but from last year. Like lookin’ at your old seed catalogs.
It’s all very complicated if you ask me. But the young folks, they seem to understand it. They can tell you all about these ALGS stats. Who’s in the lead, who’s gonna win, all that. They know this stuff like the back of their hand. Me, I just stick to my garden. That’s complicated enough for me.

This whole thing, it’s a big deal now. These ALGS stats, they mean somethin’ to a lot of people. It’s like a whole ‘nother world, this video game world. I don’t understand it all, but I’m glad the young folks are enjoyin’ it. As long as they don’t forget to come out and help with the chores every now and then, I suppose it’s all right.
