This year, that NFL thing, my grandson keeps talking about it. He’s always on that phone, looking at the NFL schedule. He said I need to get an ICS calendar, whatever that is. Said it will help me see when them games are on. I don’t know, seems complicated. But I guess I gotta keep up with the times, you know?

He kept saying “ICS file“, “NFL“, and “download”. Sounds like a whole bunch of gibberish to me. All these new words, these kids and their technology. Back in my day, we just knew when the games were on, the whole village just knew. Now you need a special phone and some calendar thingy.
He showed me something called “Google”, said it was on the “internet”. I saw a bunch of colors and words. He said I could put the NFL schedule on my phone’s calendar. He clicked some buttons, I just watched. Now he says I can see all them NFL games on my phone. Goodness gracious, technology these days.
He tried to explain, said something about “import” and “snapshot”. Said the calendar won’t update by itself. What’s that even mean? Like it’s gonna get old and dusty? I just want to know when them boys are playing. My grandson is playing, but they are not professional, this NFL, it’s so popular, right? I think, it’s necessary to know how to get this ICS calendar thing.
This whole ICS calendar thing is confusing. My grandson said something about “menus” and “displayed.” He clicked something called “synced”. Oh boy, what’s all this clicking for? He then clicked another called “OK”. I guess that means it’s done? Lord help me, these young folks and their fancy gadgets.
- First, you gotta have that Google thing. My grandson says everyone has it.
- Then, you gotta find this ICS thing for the NFL schedule.
- You click some buttons, and then it’s on your phone. I think.
- Then it will not update the calendar automatically.
He also said something about “sharing” a calendar. Like sharing a pie? You can share a calendar with other folks, he said. So we can all know when the NFL games are on. That’s kinda nice, I guess. We can all watch together, even if we’re not in the same place. Share team meetings, he said. What’s a team meeting? Is that when they all huddle together before they start running?

My grandson also said this ICS file, need to be “GMT” plus one. He said if I am in other place, need to change, I don’t know, I don’t want to break it. But he said it’s important, or the times will be all wrong. I guess that makes sense. Time is time, gotta keep it straight, or you’ll miss the game.
And these calendar can be shared only allows people receive new events. I don’t know what’s that mean, but I am happy that I can get these NFL schedule on my phone. I can know when my favorite team is playing.
I saw another thing on that internet, a list of calendars for 2025, can you believe it? That’s a long time away. They had one for the NFL, of course. You can “subscribe” or “download”, my grandson said. And something about “iCalendar” and “Outlook”. More words I don’t understand. But it’s all about them NFL games, so I guess it’s important.
This thing called ICS, I think it’s for more than just football. They had a whole bunch of things, not just NFL, they have other sports too. People put all sorts of stuff on these calendars. This ICS calendar, it’s popular. I see many young people use it.
Well, I still don’t really get it, this whole ICS calendar and NFL schedule thing. But my grandson set it up for me, so I guess I don’t need to worry too much. I can just look at my phone and see when the games are on. That’s all that matters, right? As long as I don’t miss any of them NFL games, that’s the important thing.

These young folks and their technology. It’s a whole different world now. But I’m trying to keep up. I guess this old dog can learn new tricks, even if they involve this confusing ICS calendar and NFL schedule. As long as I can watch my NFL, I’m happy.
