Alright, let’s talk about keeping tabs on this whole Pimblett vs Topuria thing. It’s been brewing for a while, right? Lots of noise.
So, first thing I did, I just started listening. Heard the names popping up together more and more. Saw the trash talk online, the callouts after fights. Didn’t really do much formal tracking at first, just absorbed it, you know?
Getting Organized (Sort Of)
Then it got a bit more serious, felt like something might actually happen down the line. So, I figured I should probably jot some stuff down. Didn’t want to forget the details or who said what when.
I just grabbed a simple notebook. Nothing fancy. Started a new page. Wrote their names at the top. Simple.
Here’s basically what I started noting down:
- Key quotes from interviews or press conferences. Especially the nasty ones, those always stick.
- Dates of specific callouts or incidents (like that scuffle they apparently had).
- Quick thoughts on their recent performances. Just a line or two, like “Pimblett looked sharp on the ground” or “Topuria’s power seems real”.
- Any time one mentioned the other directly.
Watching and Re-watching
Of course, just writing stuff down isn’t enough. You gotta watch the fights. So I went back. Watched Pimblett’s last few UFC fights again. Then did the same for Topuria.

I wasn’t looking for super technical breakdowns, just getting a feel for them again. How they move. How they react under pressure. Added some more notes to the notebook based on this.
Stuff like:
- Paddy seems hittable but recovers well.
- Topuria looks very compact, very powerful early.
- Who have they fought? Any common opponents? (Turns out, not really directly).
- What are their main strengths and weaknesses, just based on what I see?
Forming an Opinion (And Changing It)
After doing all that, watching, reading the back-and-forth, looking at my notes, I started leaning one way. Thought, okay, fighter A probably takes this.
But then, you see another performance, or hear another interview, and you think… maybe not. Maybe fighter B has a better shot than I first thought. My notes section started having crossed-out opinions and new ones written next to them. It’s a process, right?
It’s not like I’m doing deep analysis for a betting site or anything. It’s just my way of following the story. Keeping track of the drama and the actual fighting potential. Makes watching the sport more interesting for me, having these little records I’ve kept along the way.

So yeah, that’s basically my routine when a potential fight like this starts making waves. Hear about it, get curious, start jotting things down, watch the tape, form an idea, and see how it all plays out. Keeps me engaged.
