So, I had some time the other day and felt like swinging the clubs. Wasn’t looking for anything too fancy or time-consuming. Remembered hearing about a place called Ironwood 9 over in Cerritos. Figured a quick nine holes would do the trick, so I decided to head over and see what it was all about.

Getting there was straightforward. Tossed my bag in the car and drove down. Found the place without much trouble, parked the car, and walked over to what looked like the main building. Went inside, paid my green fee at the counter. The person there was okay, got me sorted pretty quickly. Nothing too memorable, just the usual check-in process.
Hitting the Course
Grabbed my stuff and headed out to the first tee. It’s definitely a shorter course, looked like a par 3 setup mostly, which was fine by me for a quick round. Didn’t bother warming up much, just took a few practice swings and got started.
The first few holes were pretty standard. Just focused on making contact and getting the ball somewhere near the green. It wasn’t too crowded when I started, which was nice. Moved along at a decent pace.
Things I noticed during the round:
- The course condition was alright. Nothing spectacular, but playable. Greens were okay, maybe a little slow.
- Some holes were really short, felt like just a wedge shot.
- Lost one ball in some thicker grass off the fairway on maybe the 5th hole? Annoying, but happens.
- It got a bit busier as I made the turn, had to wait a little on the last couple of holes.
- Overall, it felt like a very basic, no-frills kind of place. Good for practice, especially short game.
I managed a couple of decent shots, shanked a few others. You know how it goes. Just enjoyed being outside and hitting the ball, really. Walked the whole thing, which was easy given the short layout.

Wrapping Up
Finished up the ninth hole and walked back towards the parking lot. Didn’t hang around much afterwards. Just packed up my gear and headed home. Took maybe an hour and a half, perhaps a bit longer with the waiting towards the end.
So, that was my experience at Ironwood 9 Cerritos. It served its purpose – got me out of the house for a quick, inexpensive round of golf. It’s not a championship course by any means, but if you’re just looking to practice your irons or play a fast nine, it does the job. Probably wouldn’t be my first choice for a serious game, but for a casual hit, it was perfectly fine.
