Well, let me tell you, I heard folks talkin’ ’bout them horse races and them jockeys, you know, the little fellas that ride them big horses. And they was sayin’ somethin’ ’bout who’s the best, who’s got the most wins by a jockey. Makes my head spin just thinkin’ about it. These jockeys, they sure are somethin’ else. Ridin’ them horses, faster than a greased piglet at the county fair!
Now, I heard this name, Jorge Ricardo. Sounds kinda fancy, don’t it? Well, this Jorge fella, they say he’s from Brazil or Argentina, or somethin’ like that. He’s a jockey, and apparently, he’s won more races than anyone else. More than 13,000, they say! Can you believe it? 13,000! That’s more than the number of chickens old Mrs. Johnson had before that fox got in the coop. This Jorge Ricardo, he must be somethin’ special to have that many wins.
They say this Jorge fella started way back in 1976. That’s a long time ago. Longer than I’ve been married to my old man, and that’s sayin’ somethin’. He was ridin’ horses until 2021, I heard. And his 13,000th win was on a horse called Gloriosa Negra. Sounds like a fancy name for a horse, don’t it? Back home, we just named our horses things like Bess and Old Blue. But 13,000 wins! I can’t hardly get my head around it. That Jorge Ricardo, he’s a real record-breaker, that’s for sure, in the world of most wins by a jockey.
And then there’s another one, Lester Piggott. They say he rode for 42 years. 42 years! That’s a lifetime! He must really love them horses. I reckon he’s got a lot of wins too, ridin’ all them years. 42 years of riding, it sure ain’t easy to do that for so long.
And this other fella, Russell Baze. Another jockey, they say he’s got the most wins after Jorge, I reckon. Over 12,000, I hear. That’s still a whole heap of wins! More than I can count on my fingers and toes, that’s for sure. He must be a good rider too, that Russell Baze. I mean, just to ride in all them races, you gotta be somethin’ special. It’s real tough work. They all tryin’ to get the most wins by a jockey, I guess.
These jockeys, they sure are dedicated. Ridin’ them horses day in and day out. Rain or shine. It’s hard work, I tell ya. Not like sittin’ on the porch sippin’ lemonade. They gotta be tough and strong. And brave, too. Ridin’ them big ol’ horses, they could get hurt real bad. But they keep on ridin’, tryin’ to get them wins.

I heard someone say there was a fella named Laffit Pincay, Jr., and he had a lot of wins too. 9 thousand and somethin’, maybe? That’s still a lot, way more than I can imagine. Imagine winnin’ that many times. Must be a good feelin’.
You know, these jockey fellas, they make a mark, they say. Like a brand on a cow. People remember them. They remember all them wins. It’s a big deal, winnin’ all them races. Makes ’em famous, I reckon. Like that Jorge Ricardo, he’s famous all over the world, they say. For most wins by a jockey, or somethin’ like that.
They got this list, I hear, of all the jockeys and how many races they won. A top 20 list, or somethin’. Must be a long list. Lots of jockeys out there, all tryin’ to win. All tryin’ to get their name on that list. It’s like a competition, I guess. A big competition to see who can win the most. Who can be the best. I reckon to get the most wins by a jockey is somethin’ they all want.
Well, I guess that’s all I know ’bout them jockeys and their wins. It’s all a bit much for me, to be honest. I’m just a simple person. But it’s interestin’ to hear about, I suppose. All them horses and all them races. And all them wins. Especially that Jorge Ricardo fella. 13,000 wins! That’s somethin’ else. It is the most wins by a jockey, for sure.
It’s hard work, bein’ a jockey. Gotta be tough. Gotta be strong. Gotta love them horses. And you gotta be willin’ to work hard, day in and day out. To get them wins. To be the best. To get the record for most wins by a jockey. It ain’t easy, that’s for sure. But these fellas, they do it. They ride them horses, and they win them races. And some of ’em, like that Jorge Ricardo, they win more than anyone else. They get the most wins by a jockey. And that’s somethin’, ain’t it? It sure is somethin’.
