Okay, so, I was messing around online, just killing time, and I stumbled upon this rabbit hole about Kyrie Irving’s jersey number. You know, the NBA player? I mean, who really thinks about why players pick the numbers they do, right? But this got me hooked.
First, I just wanted to see what number he actually wore. Turns out, it’s number 11. And, here is the cool part that I dug into further, the number 11 is a big deal for him, for like, a bunch of reasons. It says he was born on 1/11.
This started to make me curious about other players’ numbers, too. I found out that Luka Doncic wears 77, but I didn’t dig too deep into that one. But back to Irving.
- I saw that he’s also worn the number 10 for the national team.
- They said it’s a “meaningful” choice, but I didn’t get into all that.
Then there was some stuff about this other player, Joel Embiid. Born in Cameroon, plays for the 76ers – totally went off on a tangent there. Sorry.
Back to Irving. Apparently, he grew up in New Jersey, watching his dad play in adult leagues. And, get this – he was on a school trip to some arena in fourth grade, and that’s when he decided he’d play in the NBA. Just like that. He declared, “I will play in the NBA,” at the age of 10! That was a lot of fun to imagine.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure down the Kyrie Irving number rabbit hole. It’s funny how a simple question can lead to all these little stories. Made me think, maybe there’s more to these jersey numbers than meets the eye.
