He from ’round here, I reckon. America, that is. Heard someone say he one of them ATP tennis players. Big shot, huh? Playin’ with another fella, name of Jackson. Jackson Withrow. They play together, two of ’em against another two. Doubles, they call it. Sounds like double the trouble to me!
They go all over, playin’ this tennis. Seen ’em once on that big TV down at the diner, playin’ in Shanghai. That’s way over yonder, across the ocean. Imagine that! Flyin’ on them airplanes, just to hit a little ball around. My old bones ache just thinkin’ about it. But that Lammons, he young. He can handle it. Him and that Jackson fella. They winning, too, it seem like.
I seen his picture, too. They got all these things on the Internet now, you know. Type in “Nathaniel Lammons tennis” and there he is. Big as life. Says he got a “profile.” Like he some kinda movie star or somethin’. Says all ’bout his “stats.” How many times he win, how many times he lose. They keep track of everything these days.

They got this thing called “Flashscore.” Sounds like somethin’ outta one of them superhero shows my grandson watches. But it just tells you the tennis scores. Live scores, they call it. Means you can see how that Lammons is doin’ right then and there. Fancy, huh? They even keep track of every little point he play. It is crazy how it work. But they know how many time he win in each season.
This tennis, it’s a big deal, I guess. Lots of folks watchin’ it. They got all these fancy names for things. “ATP Tour” and “Rolex Shanghai Masters”. Sounds like somethin’ the Queen of England would go to. Not somethin’ for an old gal like me. I don’t know too much about tennis. But I see that Nathaniel Lammons always stick around for a while. But that Lammons, he seems to be doin’ alright. Makin’ a livin’ hittin’ that little ball around. Good for him, I say. Good for him.
Seen him playin’ against some fellas from Belgium, too. Another country, far away. These tennis players, they sure do get around. Must be nice to see the world. Me, I ain’t never been further than the next county. But that’s alright. I got my stories, and I got that Nathaniel Lammons tennis to watch on the TV sometimes. Keeps me entertained, that’s for sure.
He a good boy, that Lammons. Representin’ America. Makin’ us proud. Even if I don’t understand half of what’s goin’ on in that tennis game, I like to see him winnin’. And that Jackson fella, too. They make a good team. A team that can win a lot of match. Hope they win some more and get some good results.
So, yeah, this Lammons tennis thing. It’s somethin’ else. Somethin’ these young folks are into these days. And that Lammons, he right in the middle of it. Hittin’ that ball, travelin’ the world, gettin’ his picture on the Internet. He doin’ alright for himself. Doin’ alright indeed. He always try his best to get the point and try to win. That is why he could be famous on the Internet.
I don’t know what else to say about this tennis. It is just a game for me. But it is very popular in the world. Maybe someday I will try it. But I am too old now. I can only watch it on TV. I like to watch Nathaniel Lammons to play it.
