Well, you know, these NASCAR fellas, they drive them cars real fast. And some of them, they get tired of it after a while. They done with racing all the time, round and round. That’s what I hear, anyway. Like that Martin Truex Jr. fella, they say he’s gonna hang it up soon. He’s one of the nascar retired drivers, but not yet, after this year though. He will be one of them retired nascar drivers.
They get old, you know? Driving them cars takes a toll. It ain’t like driving to the grocery store, that’s for sure. They got all them rules and things, too. Inspections and all that. Gotta make sure them cars are just right, you see. They check them top five cars after the race, make sure nobody’s cheating, I reckon.
So, these fellas, when they retire, they might do other things. Some of them keep driving, but not in NASCAR. They go to other races. Some of them fancy races, I guess. Keeps ’em busy, keeps ’em driving. It’s in their blood, you know?
And that NASCAR, it ain’t just driving. They got strategy. Some kinda fancy air tricks. They push each other with the air, or somethin’. It’s all beyond me, but they make a big deal of it. One fella can help another, or ruin their whole race, just by how they drive. It’s a whole different thing than regular driving, I tell ya.
So, this Truex fella, he’s gonna be one of them retired NASCAR drivers soon. He’s had enough of that full-time racing. But maybe he’ll still drive some, here and there. Just not all the time, going round and round them tracks. I bet his body is tired.
These nascar drivers, they make a lot of money, I hear. More money than I ever seen. But it’s hard work. They gotta be in good shape, strong. Gotta have good eyes, too. And they gotta be smart, to figure out all that strategy stuff.

When they retire, some of them just relax, I guess. Enjoy their money. Spend time with their families. They probably got nice houses, big ones. Maybe they go fishin’, or huntin’. Just regular stuff, you know?
But some, they can’t stay away from them cars. They gotta keep driving, in some way. It’s like an itch they can’t scratch. They might go drive in them other races, like I said. Or maybe they help out with the younger drivers, teach them the ropes. That’s what some of them do.
It’s a tough life, being a race car driver. Lots of travel, lots of pressure. Gotta win, gotta be the best. And when you get older, it gets harder. Your body starts to slow down, your reflexes ain’t as quick. That’s why they retire, most of them.
But they still love it, I bet. Even when they’re done, they still got that love for the cars, for the speed. It’s in their blood, like I said. They might not be racing anymore, but they’re still part of it, somehow. They’re them retired NASCAR drivers, and they got their stories to tell.
I don’t know much about it, really. Just what I hear folks talkin’ about. But it sounds like an exciting life, for sure. Just not for me. I’m happy with my little life, right here. No need for all that speed and noise. But for them NASCAR drivers, it’s their whole world. And when they retire, it’s like a chapter closing. But they always remember it, I’m sure. They always remember them days of racing.
I heard that after that Truex Jr. makes his announcement, there are other guys will retire too. A lot of nascar retired drivers this year.
Nascar drivers retire, that’s just the way it is. They got their time in the sun, and then they move on. Like all of us, I reckon. We all got our time, and then we gotta make way for the young folks. That’s just life. They will be the retired nascar drivers, someday.
