If the code is good, you get your stuff. Usually it’s some crystals, maybe some coins, or those asterite things. Nothing that’s gonna make you a mega-whale overnight, but hey, free stuff is free stuff.
So yeah, that’s been my experience with Honkai Impact 3rd codes. Started off annoying, got a bit better once I figured out to stick mostly to official announcements or reliable community shares.
