So, I saw this video the other day about male cheerleaders, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, I’ve always been into fitness and trying new things, so I figured this could be a fun challenge. Plus, the idea of flipping around and lifting people sounded pretty cool.

I started by doing some research online. Watched a bunch of videos of male cheerleaders doing their thing. Man, those guys are strong! They make it look so easy, but let me tell you, it’s not. I quickly realized I needed to work on my strength and flexibility, big time.
I hit the gym, focusing on weightlifting. Squats, deadlifts, bench presses – you name it, I did it. My goal was to build up enough muscle to lift someone safely, not drop them on their head! I also started doing more stretching and yoga to improve my flexibility. Let’s just say I was sore… a lot.
Then came the actual cheerleading part. I found a local group that was willing to let me join, even though I was a total newbie. I won’t lie, I was super nervous at first. I felt like a clumsy oaf compared to everyone else. But I kept at it, practicing the jumps, the cheers, and the lifts.
- First time I tried lifting someone, I nearly dropped them. Good thing the coach was there to catch them!
- My jumps were pathetic at first. I felt like a baby elephant trying to fly.
- I messed up the cheers all the time. My brain and mouth just wouldn’t cooperate.
But you know what? I didn’t give up. I kept practicing, kept pushing myself. And slowly but surely, I started to see improvement. I got stronger, more flexible, and my coordination improved. I could actually lift people without feeling like my arms were going to fall off. My jumps got higher, and I even started to remember the cheers!
It wasn’t easy, and I definitely had my moments of doubt. But I’m so glad I stuck with it. It’s been an amazing experience. I’ve gotten in better shape, met some awesome people, and learned a new skill. Plus, it’s a real confidence booster to be able to do something that most people think is only for girls. I’m proving them wrong, one cheer at a time!

If you’re thinking about trying something new, something outside of your comfort zone, I say go for it! You might surprise yourself with what you can achieve. And who knows, you might even discover a hidden talent, like I did with cheerleading. Just be prepared to work hard, and don’t be afraid to look a little silly along the way. It’s all part of the journey!
