Okay, so, I’ve always been a big tennis fan, and this year I finally got to see the Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech. It’s a big deal, an ATP 250 event, and it’s the only ATP event in Africa, which is pretty cool. This year was the 38th time they’ve held it, from April 1st to April 7th.

I booked everything way in advance, got my tickets for the Royal Tennis Club de Marrakech, and was super excited. I packed my bags and jumped on a plane.
Arriving in Marrakech
When I landed, the city was buzzing. You could feel the tennis fever everywhere. The tournament was held on clay courts, outdoors, which is my favorite way to watch tennis. I mean, the rallies are longer, and it’s just a different kind of game compared to hard courts.
The Tournament Begins
The first day, I got to the courts early. The atmosphere was electric. There were 28 players in the singles draw, and everyone was there to win. I saw some great matches, lots of ups and downs. It was a whole week of intense tennis.
The Experience
- The Matches: I watched as many matches as I could. The level of play was amazing. These guys are pros, and it showed.
- The Crowd: The fans were great. Everyone was super into it, cheering and clapping. It was a really friendly vibe.
- The Venue: The Royal Tennis Club de Marrakech is a beautiful place. It was well-organized, and everything ran smoothly.
Watching and Cheering
I spent hours at the courts, just soaking it all in. I saw some incredible points, some real nail-biters. There was this one Italian player who had a wild year, full of ups and downs, and watching him play was a roller coaster. But every match was exciting. It is very different from watching on TV!
Exploring Marrakech
When I wasn’t watching tennis, I walked around Marrakech. The city is amazing, with its markets, food, and culture. I tried some local dishes and bought some souvenirs. It was a great break from the tennis action, but I was always eager to get back to the courts.

The Final Day
The final day came, and the energy was off the charts. The two best players were going head-to-head, and the crowd was pumped. It was a tough match, but in the end, the better player won. I was happy to have seen it all in person.
Reflecting on the Trip
Leaving Marrakech, I felt a mix of emotions. I was sad that it was over but so grateful I went. It was an unforgettable experience, seeing top-level tennis and exploring a new city. I’m already thinking about next year’s tournament. Maybe I’ll go to the Australian Open in Melbourne from January 6th to 26th next year, or maybe I’ll stick to the clay courts. Who knows? All I know is that this trip was one for the books.
If you’re a tennis fan, you should try to see a tournament live. It’s a whole different experience from watching on TV. And if you get the chance to go to Marrakech for the Grand Prix Hassan II, do it. You won’t regret it.
