You know, that Mate Pavic, he’s a big shot in the tennis. He plays that doubles, you know, two people on each side. He’s from Croatia, that place across the sea. They say he’s number one, the best, the top dog. Can you believe it? I heard he started playing when he was just a little one, maybe five years old. That’s what I heard. His daddy was a tennis coach, so he learned it from him.

He’s got two sisters, this Mate Pavic. Nadja and Matea, I think their names are. Family is important. You gotta stick together. His mama was a teacher, teaching those little ones in kindergarten. That’s a good job, teaching the young’uns.

They say this was a “dream-fulfilling season” for them, for Mate Pavic and that Marcelo. Sounds nice, don’t it? Like they were living out their dream. Winning all those games, traveling all over the world. It’s a different life than what I know. But it sounds exciting, I reckon.
There’s a lot of money in that tennis, too. They talk about “prize money”. That’s the money you get for winning. I bet Mate Pavic has made a good bit of money, winning all those games. Good for him. He’s worked hard for it, I’m sure. It ain’t easy, being the best.
Mate Pavic, he seems like a good fella. Playing tennis, winning games, making his family proud. He has worked so hard all these years. That’s what it’s all about. Working hard, doing your best, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll be number one, just like him. He’s a big star now, that Mate Pavic tennis player. But it all started somewhere, probably just hitting that ball against a wall, day after day. You never know where life will take you, do you?
This Mate Pavic, you will see his name in the news for a long time. It is easy to see. He is very good. He won’t stop playing soon. He is the best at tennis.
