Okay, so I finally got around to playing the Mauna Lani North Course. I’d heard so much about it, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! This whole thing started because my buddy, Mark, kept raving about the course. He played it last year and wouldn’t shut up about the lava rock and ocean views.

Getting Started
First things first, I had to book a tee time. I did that online, pretty easy. Then, I had to dig my clubs out of the garage. They were gathering dust, I am not gonna lie. Gave them a quick clean, checked my golf balls – you know, the whole nine yards. Made sure I had my lucky golf glove… yeah, I’m a little superstitious.
The Big Day
I woke up super early, buzzing with excitement. Grabbed a quick breakfast and, I am coffee guy, of course I had a coffee. I packed everything in my car then set off. The drive there was awesome, even before I got to the course, the scenery was incredible.
When I arrived, I checked in at the pro shop. The staff was super friendly. Got myself a scorecard and pencil, and rented a cart. I mean, who walks a course like this? I’m on vacation!
Hitting the Course
The first tee…wow. The fairways were so green, and the contrast with the black lava rock was just breathtaking. I took a deep breath, teed up my ball, and…shanked it. Right into the rough. Classic! But hey, that’s golf, right?
I am not a pro-golfer, just a very normal guy, the whole course was like that – challenging but incredible.

- Hole 6: This par 3 was insane. You’re hitting over a huge patch of lava rock to a green that’s surrounded by more lava. So cool!
- Hole 15: Signature hole. It’s a par 3 right on the ocean. The wind was whipping, and I almost lost my ball in the Pacific. But the view? Unforgettable.
- Hole 17: Another stunner. A long par 4 with a fairway that runs right along the coastline. I managed to par this one, felt like a champion!
Finishing Up
After 18 holes, I was exhausted but happy.
My final score? Let’s just say I won’t be quitting my day job anytime soon. But honestly, it didn’t even matter.
I returned the cart, grabbed a cold drink at the clubhouse, and just sat there for a while, soaking it all in. I even chatted with a few other golfers who were just as blown away by the course as I was.

Would I recommend Mauna Lani North? Absolutely. It’s not just a golf course; it’s an experience. Just be prepared for some challenging holes, bring your camera, and don’t forget your sunscreen!
And now,I think I need another vacation!
