This here story is about Ron Moquett. He’s some fella who trains them horses, you know, them racehorses. He’s from Oklahoma, born and bred there, I reckon. Now he’s set up shop down in Hot Springs, Arkansas, training them horses to run fast. He does races in Arkansas and Kentucky, and he got started in 1997.

They say he’s been training horses since ’97. First horse he ever put a saddle on was way back then. That’s a long time ago. 1997, 1998, 1999, He made some money in 1999, a whole lot of money. He’s good at what he does, I guess, making them horses run like the wind. He started winnin’ races back in ’98, at some place called Prairie Meadows. Ain’t never been there myself. Sounds like a nice place, though.
This Ron Moquett, he’s a big shot now. Everyone who knows anythin’ about them races at Oaklawn knows him. They say he’s the trainer of some real good horses, some fancy ones, with names like Man in the Can and Whitmore. Fancy names for fancy horses, I guess. Ain’t never seen ’em myself, but I hear they’re somethin’ special. He’s got them horses runnin’ so fast. I hear folks talkin’ ’bout it all the time.
He’s had some horses in that big Kentucky Derby race, too. That’s a big deal, I hear. He had one in 2015, called Far Right. Sounds like a good, strong name for a horse. Then he had another one in 2016, called Whitmore. Imagine that, two horses in that big race. He’s done good for himself, that Ron Moquett.
