Alright, so I decided today was the day to finally check out the specs for that 2024 Suzuki GSX-8R everyone’s been mentioning lately. Been meaning to do it, just kept putting it off. So, I sat down, grabbed my laptop, and started digging around.

First thing I did was just type “2024 Suzuki GSX-8R specs” into the search bar. Got a bunch of results, obviously. I skipped past the ads and clicked on a couple of the bike review sites and what looked like Suzuki’s official info pages, just to compare and make sure the numbers lined up.
So, here’s what I jotted down from my little search session:
Engine Stuff
It looks like they’re using the same engine that’s in the GSX-8S, which makes sense. It’s that 776cc parallel-twin. DOHC, liquid-cooled, pretty standard setup these days. Power-wise, most places are saying it puts out around 82 horsepower (or 61 kW) and about 57.5 lb-ft of torque (78 Nm). Feels like a good amount for a bike like this, probably quite usable on the street without being too crazy.
Frame and Suspension Bits
They built this thing on a steel frame. Again, seems similar to the 8S. Keeps things sturdy without costing a fortune, I guess. For suspension, it’s got Showa components. Up front, they’re using those Separate Function Forks – Big Piston (SFF-BP). Sounds techy, but it’s becoming more common. The rear has a Showa monoshock with preload adjustment. Not fully adjustable race stuff, but likely a decent setup for road riding and handling some corners.
Brakes are Nissin radial-mount calipers on dual discs at the front. Standard ABS is included, naturally. Seems like a solid stopping package.

Electronics Package
It comes with a few electronic aids, which you kind of expect now.
- Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS): Basically, three ride modes (Active, Basic, Comfort) to change how the throttle feels.
- Traction Control System (STCS): Has multiple levels you can pick from, plus you can turn it off if you want to get squirrely. Good safety net.
- Bi-directional Quick Shift System: This is pretty cool, lets you shift up and down without using the clutch. Comes standard apparently.
- Ride-by-Wire Throttle: Electronic throttle control, makes the other systems work smoothly.
It also has a nice 5-inch color TFT display for all the info. Looks clear enough from the pictures I saw.
Size and Weight Details
I was curious about the weight. The numbers I found put the curb weight at around 452 pounds (205 kg). It’s not feather-light, but for a fully-faired bike with that engine, it seems reasonable. Seat height is listed at 31.9 inches (810 mm), which sounds pretty average, most folks should be able to manage it.
The fuel tank holds 3.7 gallons (14 liters). Should give decent enough range between fill-ups.
So yeah, that’s the rundown of what I found looking into the GSX-8R specs today. Basically, it’s the 8S engine and frame, wrapped in sporty fairings, with slightly different suspension (the Showa SFF-BP forks are the main change there I think) and clip-on handlebars for a sportier riding position. Seems like a solid, practical middleweight sportbike from Suzuki. Just wanted to share what I dug up.
