That Iraq, oh boy, it’s a whole thing, I tell ya. So much going on over there, you wouldn’t believe it. This Iraq schedule, it’s like herding cats, always changing. One minute they say this, next minute they say that. Hard to keep up, I swear.

They got this big meeting thing, see? Like a big pow-wow. All these important folks, they sit around a table and talk and talk. They talk about the soldiers, those American boys. They been there a long time, helping out, you know? Now they’re talking about when they gonna go home. It is the coalition’s military mission, and very important.
First, they said September, this year, maybe next year. Who knows these days? Things change faster than the weather. Now I hear they put it off, this big announcement. Something happened, some trouble over there, always is. Iraq is a federal parliamentary republic country, you know. They say it’s a big deal, this country, a “middle power.” Founding member of this and that, the UN, OPEC, the Arab League. Big words, all of it. They say they are in charge. I guess they are.
These talks, they supposed to be about making a plan. A schedule, like when you plant your garden. First you do this, then you do that. But this is way more complicated than my tomatoes, that’s for sure. It is about Iraq’s foreign ministry, and they seem to be in charge of these things. They say it’s a two-step thing, this going home business. Like a dance, you know? One step forward, two steps back. They say the American boys will stay a bit longer, help out some more. Keep things tidy, I suppose. Make sure everything’s alright before they pack their bags.
- They talked about September, then they said no, not yet.
- Something about “recent developments,” that’s what they always say.
- They say they making a plan, a schedule, but it keeps changing.
- It’s about the American soldiers.
It’s all mixed up with this ISIS thing, some bad folks causing trouble. The American boys, they been helping to fight them. They say they need to make sure those bad folks are really gone before they leave. Makes sense, I reckon. Don’t want them coming back like weeds in the garden. They say it is about the ongoing defeat of ISIS. I hope it is true, to be honest.
They had a big meeting, Saturday, I think it was. In Baghdad, that’s a big city over there. They said it was the first one, just the beginning. Lots more talking to do, I bet. They gotta figure out all the details, like when exactly everyone’s going home and who’s gonna do what after they leave. It is all about setting up the process.

Now, the Americans, they like to plan things out real careful. They like to know what’s what. They say they want this schedule to be based on what’s happening on the ground, you know? Like, is it safe? Are those bad folks really gone? Are the Iraqi folks ready to take care of things themselves? It’s like checking the weather before you hang out your laundry. You gotta be sure, right?
The Iraqi folks, they seem to want those American boys to go home sooner rather than later. I guess they figure they can handle things themselves now. Maybe they can, maybe they can’t. It’s hard to say from way over here. They are talking about formally end the coalition’s work. It sounds serious, doesn’t it?
They got these officials, fancy folks in suits, they gonna be talking a lot in the next few days. Talking about the future, they say. What’s gonna happen next. It’s all very hush-hush, I hear. Lots of secrets, I bet. They don’t tell us regular folks much. We just hear bits and pieces, like gossip at the market. This Iraq schedule is a big deal for everyone, for sure.
It is all about the future of the U.S.-led mission. What will happen, I don’t know. But these talks are important, they say. They are going to be talking about it for days, I am sure. And they will decide when is the best time for everyone to leave. They want to do it right, they say, not rush things. Like baking a cake, you can’t just throw it in the oven and hope for the best. You gotta follow the recipe, make sure you got all the ingredients, do it step by step.
So, this Iraq schedule, it’s a big puzzle. Lots of pieces to fit together. And it’s important, not just for those folks over there, but for everyone. We all gotta live in this world together, right? So we gotta hope they figure it out, these big shots with their meetings and their plans. Hope they make a good schedule, one that works for everyone. One that keeps everyone safe and sound. That’s all we can hope for, ain’t it? I just hope they know what they are doing. It is a mess, that’s for sure. They need to clean it up, and fast. Before it gets worse. It is like my garden, if you don’t take care of it, the weeds take over.
