Okay, so today I decided to dive into the world of rugby 7s matches. I’ve always been intrigued by the sport, but never really took the time to watch a bunch of games in a row and get a feel for it. So, that’s what I did!

Getting Started
First, I needed to find some matches to watch. I just went into my usual sports streaming spot, you know the one. I browsed through to check the schedule, and I found some replays of recent tournaments.
The Watching Spree
I settled in and just started watching. I didn’t have any particular teams in mind, I just wanted to absorb the game. I’d put a game on, check out the teams.
- The Pace: Man, these games are fast! It’s all action, all the time. Way quicker than the 15-a-side version.
- The Skills: The players have to be super skilled. There’s so much space on the field, so one missed tackle or dropped ball can be a disaster. The passing and offloading are insane.
- The Fitness: I can’t even imagine how fit these athletes are. They’re sprinting, tackling, rucking… non-stop for the whole match. I get tired just watching them!
- Try Celebration:I can see the celebration of each team when they score. They express their passions.
My Takeaways
After watching a good few matches, I’ve got a much better appreciation for rugby 7s. It’s a totally different beast than the 15-a-side game. It’s way more open and the emphasis is way more on speed, skill, and crazy fitness levels.
It made me feel like want to watch more, and search more to understand their rules.

It was a solid day of rugby watching. Now I want to watch more, and I’m even thinking about trying to find a local club to see if I can get involved. Maybe not playing, my tackling days are probably over, but you know, just to be around the sport.
