This here thing, Oxygen Esports Valorant, it’s somethin’ else. My grandkids, they’re always on about this Valorant game. Shoot, I don’t get it, but they sure do love it. Now this Oxygen, they’re like a big team, playin’ this game, Valorant. Heard they play other games too, like that Call of Duty, and something called Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, sounds like a bunch of hootin’ and hollerin’ if you ask me.

They got players, these Oxygen folks. A whole bunch of ’em. Heard they call it a roster. Like a rooster, but with a T. These young’uns, they’re good at this Valorant, I guess. They play against other teams, win some, lose some. It’s like when we used to have them corn huskin’ bees. Everyone gatherin’ ’round, seein’ who could husk the fastest. This here is kinda like that, but on the computer.
Now, how you get on one of these teams? That’s a head-scratcher. Back in my day, you wanted to be on a team, you just showed up! Baseball, kickball, didn’t matter. Now? These kids, they gotta practice, practice, practice. They say it’s all about bein’ good at the game. Gotta be quick, gotta be smart. I don’t know, seems like a lot of fuss.
This Oxygen Esports Valorant team, they got numbers, stats they call ’em. Like how many times they win, how many times they lose, who’s the best player, all that stuff. It’s like keepin’ track of how many eggs your hens lay. More eggs, better the hen, I reckon. More wins, better the player. They even have a rank, like in the army. Higher the rank, the better they are, I suppose.
- They play matches.
- They got a roster, like a list of names.
- They got stats, like numbers and stuff.
- They even got a rank.
I seen somethin’ the other day, though. Said this Oxygen, they might be shuttin’ down. Like closin’ up shop. Heard they were lettin’ everybody go. All them players, the whole lot. Sounds like a right mess. Don’t know why they’d do that. Maybe they weren’t winnin’ enough? Maybe they ran outta money? Who knows. Business is a fickle thing, I tell ya. One day you’re up, next day you’re down.
These Oxygen Esports Valorant folks, they started somethin’ called OXG. Sounds fancy, don’t it? They say they were good at pickin’ players. Like pickin’ the best apples from the tree. They look at all the numbers, the stats, and they pick the ones they think will win. They were all about the numbers, these folks. Data, they called it. Like it was somethin’ special. I don’t know, seems like common sense to me. You want good players, you pick the ones who are good at the game, right?

This whole esports thing, it’s a young person’s game. My old bones can’t keep up. But I’ll tell ya, these kids, they’re passionate about it. They love their games, they love their teams. It’s like when we used to gather ’round the radio, listenin’ to the ball game. Same kinda excitement, same kinda energy. Just different times, different games.
This Oxygen Esports Valorant, they’re part of that. They’re part of this new world of games and competition. It’s a whole different world than the one I grew up in, but I guess every generation has their thing. This is theirs. And who knows, maybe one day these games will be as big as baseball or football. Maybe they’ll be playin’ ’em in stadiums, with thousands of people watchin’. Wouldn’t that be somethin’?
This whole thing is a big deal for the young folks. This Oxygen Esports, Valorant, all of it. It’s how they have fun, how they make friends, how they compete. They said Oxygen was gonna get rid of its Valorant team. It’s a shame, I reckon. But that’s how things go sometimes. Things change, people move on. But this Valorant game, it’ll still be around. These kids, they’ll keep playin’, they’ll keep competin’. It’s in their blood now, I reckon.
I still don’t understand all the ins and outs of it. But I see the joy it brings to my grandkids. And that’s all that matters, I suppose. That’s all that really matters. It’s a different world, this esports world. But it’s their world. And they seem to be enjoyin’ it just fine.
