Now, some folks, they wanna be special, right? Wanna get in before everyone else. Well, they got a way for that too. Somethin’ ’bout textin’. Yeah, text the word PADRES to 78469. That’s what I heard. Do that, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll get in early. But don’t blame me if it don’t work. I’m just tellin’ ya what I heard.
This FanFest, it’s all about the Padres, y’know? The baseball team. Them fellas that run around in them fancy pants and swing them bats. They say the Padres, they started way back in 1969. That’s a long time ago, even for an old gal like me. And wouldn’t ya know it, they even made it to the World Series twice! Once in ’84, lost to them Detroit Tigers. And then again in ’98. Didn’t win neither time, but hey, at least they got there, right?
I tell ya, folks ‘round here, they go crazy for the Padres. Crazy, I say! They love them boys in brown and yellow. And this FanFest, it’s like a big ol’ party for them fans. A chance to see the players, get some autographs, maybe even eat a hot dog or two. Who don’t like a good hot dog?
This year, they started the season right, beatin’ them Giants on openin’ day at Petco Park. That’s our home field, y’know? Petco Park. Pretty fancy place, if ya ask me. But I reckon it’s a good place to watch a ball game. And folks ‘round here, they sure do love watchin’ them Padres play ball.

Now, some folks, they might say, “Why go to FanFest? It’s just a bunch of people standin’ around.” Well, let me tell ya somethin’. If you ain’t desperate for some baseball by now, well, then you ain’t a real fan, are ya? This offseason is long, y’know? Too long, if ya ask me. And FanFest, it’s just a little somethin’ to hold ya over ’til the season really gets goin’. It’s somethin’ to do with other folks that love the Padres just as much as you do. It’s somethin’ fun to do like get together and eat a hot dog. You can get autographs. And it’s something Padres, Padres, Padres!
So, if you’re a Padres fan, and you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do, go on down to FanFest. Get yer free tickets, text that number if ya wanna be fancy, and go have yerself a good time. It’s a chance to celebrate the Padres, meet some other fans, and maybe, just maybe, get a glimpse of them players up close. And who knows, maybe this year will be the year they finally win it all. A fella can dream, can’t he?
Remember what I told ya, now. Tickets are free, but ya gotta get ’em online. And if ya wanna get in early, send that text message. Don’t go showin’ up without a ticket, or you’ll be outta luck. And most importantly, have fun! It’s a party for the fans, so go on and enjoy it.
