Alright, let’s talk about this fella, Pete Rodriguez, the UFC fighter. Folks call him “Dead Game,” which sounds kinda scary if you ask me. He’s one of them fellas who likes to scrap, you know, wrestle and punch and all that. He’s in the welterweight division, which means he ain’t the biggest guy, but he sure ain’t small neither. They say he’s American, so he’s probably one of them strong, tough types.

Now, this Pete, he started out pretty good. Had himself a good record, winnin’ five fights and only losin’ one. That’s what they call a 5-1 record. He even knocked out some fella named Mike Jackson real quick, in just 93 seconds! Imagine that, faster than it takes to boil a kettle of water! That happened back in October of 2022, if my memory serves me right. He must’ve been real proud of that, knocking a fella out that fast. Shows he’s got some power in them fists.
- He’s called “Dead Game”
- Fights in the welterweight division
- Had a 5-1 record before his last fight
- Knocked out Mike Jackson in 93 seconds in 2022
But then, things got a little rough for Pete. He went and fought this other fella, Themba Gorimbo, in Las Vegas. And let me tell you, it didn’t go so well. Themba, he beat Pete pretty quick, in just 32 seconds of the first round! They call it a TKO, which means the referee stopped the fight ‘cause Pete was gettin’ beat up too bad. That must’ve stung. First fight back since 2022 and it ends like that. Poor fella.
I heard tell there was this big UFC event, UFC 304, back in July of 2024. It was over in England, in a place called Manchester. They had some big fight, Edwards versus Muhammad, but Pete wasn’t in it. Maybe he was still recoverin’ from that fight with Themba. Or maybe they just didn’t want him in that big fight after he lost. These fight promoters, they’re a fickle bunch, always lookin’ for the next big thing.
It’s a tough business, this fightin’ game. One minute you’re on top, knockin’ fellas out, the next you’re gettin’ beat up yourself. You gotta be tough, real tough, to make it in the UFC. You gotta train hard, eat right, and stay outta trouble. And even then, there’s no guarantee you’re gonna win. There’s always some young fella comin’ up, tryin’ to take your spot. And them punches, they hurt, I tell ya. I seen enough bar fights in my day to know that.
I don’t know what the future holds for Pete Rodriguez. Maybe he’ll bounce back and win some more fights. Maybe he’ll decide he’s had enough and hang up his gloves. It’s hard to say. But one thing’s for sure, he ain’t no quitter. You don’t get to the UFC by bein’ a quitter. He’ll probably go back to the gym, train even harder, and try to prove them doubters wrong. That’s what a fella with grit does, anyhow.

They say this UFC thing is a big deal, lots of money and all. But I don’t see the point of it myself. Two grown men, beatin’ each other up for entertainment? Seems kinda barbaric if you ask me. But then again, I’m just an old woman who likes her peace and quiet. These young folks, they like different things I guess. They like the excitement, the thrill of the fight. And I suppose there’s somethin’ to be said for that, even if I don’t understand it myself.
So that’s the story of Pete Rodriguez, as far as I know it. He’s a fighter, plain and simple. He wins some, he loses some. And that’s life, ain’t it? Ups and downs, wins and losses. You just gotta keep on fightin’, keep on tryin’, and hope for the best. And maybe, just maybe, Pete will get back in that octagon and show the world what he’s made of. UFC Fight Night results can be unpredictable, so you never know.
