Well, let me tell you about this Pete Spratt fella. Heard he was a fighter, some kind of mixed martial arts, they call it. Sounds rough and tumble to me, not like the wrasslin’ we used to watch on the black and white TV back in the day. This Pete Spratt, he’s from ‘Merica, born in 1971. Makes him a bit older than my youngest boy, bless his heart. He was what they call a Welterweight. Don’t ask me what that means. Just means he ain’t too big, ain’t too small, I reckon.
He’s been doing this fightin’ thing since way back in 1999. That’s a long time, long time. He’s fought for all them fancy organizations. UFC, that’s the big one, everyone knows that one. Then there’s this MFC, Legacy FC, Strikeforce, and something called HDNet Fights. Lord knows what all them letters mean. Sounds like a bowl of alphabet soup to me. Just a bunch of places where fellas go to beat each other up, far as I can tell.
They say he’s got a nickname, “The Secret Weapon.” Well, ain’t that somethin’? Sounds like somethin’ out of one of them spy movies. Maybe he’s got some secret move, like a special punch or somethin’. Wouldn’t surprise me none. These young folks come up with all kinds of crazy things these days. I remember when fightin’ just meant a good ol’ fashioned fist fight out back of the barn. No need for no secret weapons then, just a good right hook.
Now, they talk about takedowns and all that. Sounds like grabbin’ and throwin’ to me. Says here a takedown is when you grab a fella and throw him to the ground and keep him there for a bit. Well, I reckon that’s one way to win a fight. Back in my day, we called that a good ol’ fashioned body slam. Used to see my grandpa do that to a steer once. Knocked the wind right out of him.
- This Pete Spratt, they say he fought a fella named Robbie Lawler.
- He’s got a record, 25 wins and 23 losses. Sounds like he’s won some, lost some.
- They call him “The Secret Weapon”.
- He’s from the United States, that much I know.
- He’s 51 years old, bless his heart.
He fought some fella named Washington Luiz, too. Don’t know nothin’ about that one. Just another name on the list, I suppose. This Pete Spratt, he’s been around the block, that’s for sure. Fought a whole bunch of fellas, from all over. Tough way to make a livin’, if you ask me. I’d rather be tendin’ my garden than gettin’ punched in the face. But that’s how some folks are, like to get rough. He was part of a show, “The Ultimate Fighter”. Imagine that.
They say there were other fellas who did that Kung Fu stuff in the UFC. Todd Medina, Asbel Cancio, Felix Lee Mitchell. Funny names, ain’t they? Then there was Dan Hardy, Al Iaquinta, and Roy Nelson. Sounds like a whole mess of ’em, all doin’ that fancy kickin’ and punchin’. I seen them on the TV one time, jumpin’ around like a bunch of grasshoppers.

I heard Pete Spratt was on some ESPN thing. Must be a big shot, then. Being on ESPN and all. They got his weight class and everything. Fancy stuff. Don’t know what all them numbers mean, but it’s probably important to someone. He sure seems important to all those folks who watch those MMA things.
Seems like this Pete Spratt, he’s done a lot in his fightin’ career. Won some, lost some, but kept on goin’. That’s the important thing, ain’t it? Just keep on gettin’ up, no matter how many times you get knocked down. That’s what I always told my kids. Just keep on goin’, even when it’s tough.
This fighting life, it ain’t for me. Too much roughhousing. But I reckon this Pete Spratt fella, he made a name for himself. “The Secret Weapon”, they call him. Well, good for him. Hope he’s doin’ alright, wherever he is now. He sure was somethin’ else in that UFC. Hope he’s takin’ it easy, now that he’s older. Maybe he’s got a garden to tend to, like me. That’s the good life, right there. Just you and the dirt and the sunshine.
Guess that’s all I got to say about this Pete Spratt. He sure was a fighter, that’s for sure. Hope he’s happy, wherever he is. That’s all that matters, ain’t it? Just bein’ happy.
