Alright, so today I’m gonna yap about my recent golf outing at Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club. Figured I’d document the whole shebang, from planning to execution (and the inevitable shanks).

The Planning Phase: Operation “Don’t Embarrass Myself”
First off, gotta find a tee time. I hopped online, checked out the Tampa Palms website. Looked for a day where the weather wasn’t trying to kill me with humidity and a time slot that didn’t require me to wake up before sunrise. Scored a mid-morning slot on a Tuesday. Perfect for avoiding the weekend warrior crowds and maybe even getting a decent parking spot.
Next up: gear check. I dragged my dusty clubs out of the garage. Gave ’em a quick wipe-down (they needed it). Checked my golf balls. Down to my last sleeve of decent ones and a whole bag of swamp balls I probably found near a water hazard somewhere. Grabbed a handful of tees, a glove that probably needed replacing, and a hat to keep the sun off my balding head.
On the Course: Swing and a Prayer
Arrived at Tampa Palms, checked in, grabbed a cart (those things are a lifesaver in the Florida heat). The course looked pretty good, I gotta say. Fairways were nicely manicured, greens looked fast. Figured I was in for a decent day, despite my track record.

First tee. Deep breath. Tried to remember all the advice my buddy gave me about keeping my eye on the ball and not trying to kill it. Proceeded to promptly top the ball about 50 yards. Sigh. Here we go.
- Hole 1: Double bogey. Not a great start.
- Hole 2: Par! Okay, maybe I haven’t completely lost it.
- Hole 3: Bogey. Back to reality.
The round was a rollercoaster, to be honest. Some decent shots mixed in with plenty of shanks, slices, and the occasional near-miss of a water hazard. I definitely lost a few balls out there. Those ponds are hungry, I tell ya.
The 19th Hole: Post-Round Analysis (and a Cold One)
Finished the round with a score I’m not exactly proud of, but hey, at least I got some exercise and enjoyed the scenery. Headed to the clubhouse for a well-deserved post-round beverage. Grabbed a cold beer, sat on the patio, and watched some other golfers finish their rounds.
Thinking back, the key takeaway from the day was just to relax and enjoy the game. I tend to get too focused on my score and forget to appreciate being out there on a nice course. Gotta work on that.

Anyway, that’s my Tampa Palms golf adventure in a nutshell. Not my best performance, but definitely not my worst. Already planning my next outing. Maybe I’ll even break 90 one of these days…
