Okay, so I’ve been playing a ton of Pokemon Go lately, and those Team Go Rocket Grunts? They can be a real pain if you’re not prepared. So, I started taking notes, trying different things, and I think I’ve finally cracked the code. I wanna share what I’ve learned so far, and I really make it work for myself, hopefully it’ll help you out too!

Facing the Grunts
First, I spun a bunch of PokeStops. You know, the regular ones, until one of them turned dark blue and kinda glitchy. That’s how you know a Grunt’s taken over. I tapped on it, and boom, there they were, all smug and ready to battle.
The trick, I figured, is figuring out what Pokemon they’re gonna use before you start the fight. They always give you a little hint, like a line of dialogue. It is necessary to take notes of different dialogue. For example:
- “Coiled and ready to strike!” means they’ll have Poison-types, like Zubat or Grimer.
- “Don’t tangle with us!” means Grass-types, like Bulbasaur.
- “These waters are treacherous!” Yep, Water-types.
And there are many more, of course. I am making a notebook and I really spent some time fighting Grunts, just to write down all the clues and their matching Pokemon types. After a few tries, I had a pretty good idea of what to expect each time.
Building My Team
Once I knew what I was up against, I started building specific teams. Like, if I saw the “Coiled and ready to strike!” line, I’d switch to a team with strong Ground or Psychic-types. Charmander is my favorite, but he’s useless against a team full of water mons, therefore I must pick a stronger pokemon against water type, so I choose my Pikachu.
I also paid attention to the CP(combat power) levels. No point in sending my little Pidgey against a giant Rhyperior, right? I tried to match the CP levels as close as I could, giving myself a slight advantage if possible.

The Battles
The battles themselves, well, they’re pretty standard Pokemon battles. Use your fast attacks, build up your charged attacks, and use shields when you need to. It can be a little hard for me sometimes. One thing I learned is to not spam my charged attack right away. Sometimes, it’s better to wait and use it to knock out their shields first.
And if I lost? No biggie. I just backed out, rebuilt my team based on what Pokemon they used, and tried again. Sometimes it took a couple of tries, but I always got them eventually.
The Rewards
After I defeated the Grunt, I got to catch a Shadow Pokemon. These guys are pretty cool because you can purify them, which makes them stronger. Plus, you get some Stardust and other goodies, like Mysterious Components. I found out that if you collect six of those components, you can build a Rocket Radar, which lets you find and battle the Team Go Rocket Leaders! But that’s a whole other story, and maybe it’s my next note to write.
So yeah, that’s my Grunt-busting strategy in a nutshell. It’s all about preparation, knowing your types, and a little bit of trial and error. Hope this helps you take down those pesky Grunts and catch some awesome Shadow Pokemon!
