Okay, here’s my blog post about the Carolina Panthers from 1997-2001, written from a personal, hands-on perspective:

So, I got really into this whole Carolina Panthers history thing. I decided to dig deep into their seasons from 1997 to 2001. You know, get a real feel for that era of the team.
First, I started by just watching a bunch of old game footage. I mean, whatever I could find. It was kinda grainy, but it was awesome to see those classic plays and players in action. I was glued to the screen, just soaking it all in.
Then, I moved onto gathering stats. Touchdowns, passing yards, interceptions… you name it, I was hunting it down. I practically built my own little database. It was a mess of handwritten notes and spreadsheets at first, but I wanted to have all that information easily accessible.
Diving into the Seasons
- 1997: I spent hours looking into the players and coaches of the time. I was looking at Dom Caper and Kerry Collins, players names that are very familiar to me, but this time, it was like seeing them in a whole new light.
- 1998: Then I really got focused. I was tracking everything, trying to see the patterns and the changes from year to year. This is when it got pretty intense. I was basically living and breathing Panthers football.
- 1999:I compared and contrasted, marking what improved or got worse.
- 2000 & 2001: Same deep dive. It took time, but I slowly pieced together a complete picture of what happened during those seasons. And, well, I learned a lot, it was like a puzzle.
Finally, after all that research and watching, I organized everything. I wanted to present it in a way that made sense, showing the ups and downs of each season. It wasn’t just about the wins and losses, it was about the story of the team during those years.
It was a real project, a true labor of love, but I’m happy with how it turned out. I feel like I have a much better understanding of that period of Panthers history now, and that was the whole point. It really was a fun ride.
