Today, I felt like talking about this baseball player, Rhylan Thomas. I mean, I’ve been keeping an eye on this guy since he got picked up by the New York Mets in 2022. He was an 11th-round draft pick, just a kid, you know? But then in 2023, bam, he’s got this season that’s kinda flying under the radar, but it’s actually pretty unique if you ask me.

So, I started digging around. I found out that this guy, Rhylan Thomas, got activated as an OF for some New York Mets prospects. And then, like a month after I started digging, he’s assigned to the New York Mets. I guess the big guys are noticing him too, huh?
I checked out a few other things, but then I really got into it. I discovered that he started the season with the Mets’ Double-A team in Binghamton. Then, guess what? In May, he got promoted to Triple-A Syracuse. That’s a big jump, right? It means he’s doing something right.
I kept going with my little investigation. Found out he’s around 6 feet tall, and I saw a couple of videos where he’s just smashing it. They say he hit his first Triple-A homer for Syracuse. And then, another one! His fourth homer of the year, again for Triple-A Syracuse. This guy’s on fire!
Then I started to think about how baseball’s all about numbers, right? Like, how fast you hit the ball, the angle and stuff. I was imagining how they measure all that for Rhylan. I’ve never played baseball, but I think it must be super cool to get all these stats about your playing.
What really got me hooked was a random comparison I made in my head. I don’t know why, but I started comparing Rhylan’s story to this movie I watched, “Zero to Hero”. It’s about this Paralympian, So Wa-wai, who, like, wins medals and stuff. He had all these personal and physical struggles, but he made it with his mom’s help. I watched this movie in a film festival a while ago and then watched it again when it was released to the public. I guess what I’m trying to say is, both Rhylan and So Wa-wai had to overcome a lot to get where they are. It just shows that with hard work, you can achieve a lot, you know?

So yeah, that’s my little deep dive into Rhylan Thomas. I’ll be keeping an eye on him, that’s for sure. It’s always cool to see someone work hard and get recognized for it.
