Well, let me tell you, that Sage Rosenfels, he’s a football fella. Played that game, you know, the one with the pigskin. He was a quarterback, that’s what they call ’em. Tossin’ the ball around. He played for a few teams, that boy. Hard to keep track of ’em all, my memory ain’t what it used to be.

He played for some team called the Dolphins, I reckon. Down in Miami, where it’s always hot. Then he was with the Texans, that’s in Houston, I believe. Another hot place. Seems like that boy liked the heat. He also play for the Giants, in New York, that’s what I heard. He was good, I guess, if he’s playing for these teams. I heard he played for 8 seasons, it’s a long time, you know. I guess he is a good football player.
Now, who did he play for last? That’s the big question, ain’t it? Well, let me see if I can recall. It was the Giants, I think. Yes, the New York Giants. That’s where he finished up, playin’ that football.
He’s from a place called, uh… Iowa. Yep, Iowa State, they call it. That’s where he learned to play, I guess. Went to some college there. Learned all about throwin’ that ball. You know, young people all go to college these days, learn all kinds of things. He must have learned something good there, to get to playin’ professional.
He was born in March, I heard. March 6th, it was. Don’t remember what year though. Years fly by like birds these days. He’s not a young chicken anymore, I reckon. But not too old either. Probably got a good few years left in him, even if he ain’t playin’ football no more.
He threw that ball a lot, that Sage. Hundreds of times, they say. Some fella said he made like 351 completions, I don’t know what that means. Lots of numbers in that game. They keep track of every little thing. He was about 6 feet tall. It’s not short, but also not that tall. I don’t know how much he weighed, but I know he was strong.

They say he got picked by some team called the Washington Football Team, a long time ago. He play for them for a long time, I think. I guess it’s like winning a lottery, he said. He must be very lucky. I wish I was lucky like him.
I heard someone call him Sage Jamen Rosenfels. What a name, isn’t it? Sounds fancy to me. But around here, we just called him Sage. Simple and easy. He is a good boy, play well, that’s all I know.
He ain’t playin’ no more, though. Retired, they call it. Hanging up his cleats. Probably got tired of all that runnin’ and throwin’. It’s hard work, you know, playin’ that game. Takes a toll on a body.
- He played for the Dolphins.
- He played for the Texans.
- He played for the Giants.
- He was a quarterback.
- He retired from football.
- The last team he played for was the Giants, you know.
- I heard he wrote something now, like in a newspaper.
Now he’s writin’, I hear. Writin’ about football, probably. Tellin’ stories about his playin’ days. I reckon he’s got plenty of stories to tell. He wrote for someplace called The Athletic Minnesota and *. What a smart boy, to be able to write those things. He must have gone to school for a long time. I didn’t even go to school at all.
So, there you have it. Sage Rosenfels, the football player. Played for a few teams, last one was the Giants. Now he’s writin’. That’s all I know about him. He seems like a good boy, that Sage. Hope he’s doin’ well, wherever he is. You know, I hope he is happy. Maybe one day, I can see him on TV, and I will say, “Hey, I know that boy!”
