Today, I decided to try out that Saquon Barkley jump that’s been all over the internet. You know, the one where he jumps over a defender like it’s nothing? Yeah, I’m no NFL running back, but I figured it couldn’t be that hard, right?
So, I headed to the park, found a somewhat clear area, and started with some warm-ups. I did some stretches, a few light jogs, you know, the usual. Then, I set up a makeshift hurdle using a couple of water bottles and a stick (don’t judge). It was probably only a foot high, but hey, gotta start somewhere.
I took a few practice runs, jumping over the mini-hurdle just to get a feel for it. I felt pretty good, pretty confident. I lined up for the real deal, took a deep breath, and sprinted towards my makeshift hurdle. I planted my foot, pushed off, and… let’s just say it wasn’t as graceful as Saquon’s.
- Attempt 1: I clipped the stick with my foot, stumbled, and nearly face-planted. My pride took a bigger hit than my body, thankfully.
- Attempt 2: I overcompensated, jumped way too high, and landed awkwardly. It wasn’t pretty, but at least I cleared it?
- Attempt 3: I finally got something that resembled a proper jump. It wasn’t high, it wasn’t smooth, but I cleared the hurdle and landed on my feet without falling. Progress!
I tried a few more times, each time getting a little bit better. I wouldn’t say I nailed it, not even close. But, I definitely gained a whole new level of respect for what Saquon Barkley does on the field. Those jumps are way harder than they look. After the tries, I felt exhausted but also satisfied with the result.
I ended up calling it a day after about an hour of jumping and stumbling around. My legs were feeling it, and honestly, my ego needed a break. I am quite sure that I won’t try this again tomorrow. So this is my Saquon Barkley jump story. It was a fun, albeit humbling, experience. I will keep to doing it again until I can do it exactly as Saquon Barkley did. Maybe I’ll stick to watching football instead of trying to recreate it.
