Okay, so I was down in Florida, near the Santa Rosa Beach area, and figured I’d get a round of golf in. Heard about this course nearby, so decided to give it a shot one morning. Wasn’t too hard finding the place, just punched it into the GPS and rolled over there.

Pulled into the parking lot. It wasn’t empty, but not crazy packed either, which felt like a good sign. Grabbed my clubs from the trunk – always bring my own stuff, feels better that way. Walked into the pro shop to get sorted.
Getting Set Up
The pro shop was pretty much what you’d expect. Looked around a bit, then went up to the counter. Paid my green fee and got a cart key. The guy behind the counter was friendly enough, pointed me where to go to get started. Weather looked good, typical Florida sunshine, maybe a little sticky already but hey, it’s Florida.
Got the cart loaded up, strapped my bag on the back. Found the starter, who pointed me toward the first tee. Didn’t have to wait long, maybe just a few minutes behind another group. Perfect, I wasn’t looking to rush, but didn’t want to stand around all day either.
Out on the Course
Teed off on number one. First few swings felt a bit rusty, always takes a hole or two to get into the groove. The course itself? It was decent. Nothing that totally blew me away, you know, but it was kept up alright. Fairways were green, greens rolled pretty true.
Played through the front nine. Some holes had water, which always makes you think twice before hitting. Lost one ball, maybe two. That always stings a bit. But overall, I was hitting okay for just a casual round. The layout had some variety, wasn’t just back-and-forth straightaways.

What I did notice was how close it felt to everything else. Not like some courses tucked way out in the middle of nowhere. You could kind of feel the beach vibe nearby, even though you’re focused on not slicing into the trees. Saw a couple of those big white birds, egrets maybe? They didn’t seem too bothered by us golfers.
The pace was fine. Let a faster single play through at one point, no big deal. Mostly just me and my thoughts, trying to make decent shots. It’s funny, you go out there to relax, get away from stuff, but then you spend half the time getting mad at yourself for a bad chip shot. Golf, right?
- Weather stayed nice.
- Course conditions were solid.
- Pace wasn’t bad at all.
Wrapping Up
Finished up the 18th hole. Felt pretty good, physically tired in that nice way after walking around and swinging for a few hours. Drove the cart back toward the clubhouse. Dropped it off, grabbed my clubs.
Didn’t hang around too long afterward. Just loaded the car and headed out. Thinking back, yeah, it was a perfectly fine round of golf. Did the job. Got me outside, swung the clubs, saw some Florida scenery. It wasn’t Pebble Beach or anything, but it didn’t need to be. Just a solid local course near the beach. If I’m ever back in Santa Rosa Beach and feel like playing, sure, I’d probably go back. It was straightforward, got what I expected.
