Okay, so I’ve been hooked on Stardew Valley again lately. It’s such a chill game, but sometimes you just gotta catch that one specific fish, you know? Today’s mission: the elusive Eel.

Why Eels, Though?
Well, I needed it for a recipe, Spicy Eel, it boosts your luck and speed. and honestly, who doesn’t want a little extra luck and speed in Stardew Valley?
Gearing Up
First things first, I checked the wiki. Always check the wiki. Turns out, Eels are a nighttime-only fish, and you can only catch them in the ocean during Spring or Fall when it’s raining.
So, I made sure it was the right season, then I waited. And waited. And waited for a rainy day. Finally, the weather gods smiled upon me (or, you know, the game’s random number generator did its thing).
The Hunt Begins
Once it started raining, I grabbed my best rod (Iridium Rod, baby!), some bait. Headed straight down to the beach.
It was already past 4 PM, cause that’s when Eels start showing up. I cast my line out into the ocean, tried to get it as far out as possible, figuring the deeper water might help.

The Waiting Game
Now, fishing in Stardew Valley is all about that little mini-game. You gotta keep the fish icon within the green bar. Eels, they’re kinda jerky. They dart up and down pretty quick, so it’s a bit more challenging than, say, a Sardine.
- Cast 1: Nothing. Just seaweed.
- Cast 2: Got a bite! But it was just a regular old fish.
- Cast 3: Another bite… another regular fish.
I started to get a little discouraged. Was my luck just terrible? Was I doing something wrong?
Success!
Then, on my maybe fifth or sixth cast, I got a bite that felt… different. The fish was way more aggressive, the movements were faster and more erratic. I focused, really tried to keep that green bar centered, my hands were getting a little sweaty.
And… I caught it! Finally got my Eel!
Lesson Learned
Patience is key, especially with these rarer fish. And making sure you’re fishing in the right place, at the right time, with the right weather,It can take a few tries, but that feeling when you finally reel in the one you’re after? Totally worth it.

Now, back to the farm to cook up some Spicy Eel! I need that boost for my next trip to the Skull Cavern.
