Okay, so, I was trying to get the hang of this strafing thing in MW3. It’s one of those mechanics that, you know, looks easy when the pros do it, but when you try, it’s a whole different story.

So I jumped into a few matches, and man, it was rough at first. I kept getting mowed down ’cause I was moving around like a headless chicken, not really getting the rhythm of it. I figured that I needed to combine my shooting with the strafing movement, but it was way harder than it sounded.
I started off in those small map playlists they have, like Shipment, Rust, and Meat. These maps are crazy small, so it’s like constant action, no downtime. It’s a good way to practice cause you are always in a gunfight, you know? I figured that small maps would be the best way to practice this.
Practice Makes Perfect
I kept at it, moving left and right, trying to shoot at the same time. It took a while, but I started to get the hang of it. It’s all about timing and making sure your aim is still on point while you’re moving. The challenge was to get strafing kills, so I had to make sure those kills counted while I was moving sideways.
- Started slow: I mean, really slow. I was all over the place.
- Focused on movement: I made sure I was strafing properly, left and right, you know the drill.
- Combined with shooting: This was the tricky part. Aiming while moving isn’t easy.
- Small maps helped: Shipment, Rust, Meat. Non-stop action.
Then I experimented a bit with Tac-Stance. That’s the middle ground between aiming down sights and hip fire, pretty cool. It gives you a better view of what’s around you. I found it super useful in more tactical modes, especially when clearing buildings.
It took a lot of deaths and a lot of practice, but I finally started getting those strafing kills more consistently. It felt great, like I was actually getting better at the game. It’s a cool feeling when you see yourself improving.

So, yeah, that’s my little journey with strafing in MW3. It’s a useful skill to have, makes you a harder target and all that. If you’re struggling with it, just keep practicing. Small maps, focus on moving and shooting at the same time, and maybe try out that Tac-Stance. You’ll get there. Keep on gaming, and keep on improving.
